letters from a Mrs Betty Barnett Turpin 1941 to 1943 at 1109 Longwood Drive, Baton Rouge, La ( no zip'a then. 1943.) Imfo from letter on genealogy of Barnett's. written ref; ( referring to relationship of Betty Turpin to these Barnett's.) Grt gran father was; Thomas Booker Barnett, He was raised in Granville ,NC . He had a Tobacco Farm and had abt 50 slaves, untill abt 1848, when he moved to Mississippi. Known of 2 sons but there were more children. They were my granfather, (sons) Joseph Hart Barnett ( brother was a Dr.Benjamin Burris Barnett.) both Thomas Booker and ch all b in Granville, NC. but lived also in Baton Rouge , La in 1941 on. Mrs Joseph Hart Barnett died in 1924. grandaughter is; Bessie B. Barnett mar a Turpin and in 12 dec 1941 she had a 16 month old dau. She also says there were some bro's of hers who died before maturity and she had some sisters. She says that a James Barnett living in Baton Rouge on Jefferson Hy ( 1941) is related somehow. There was no males to carry on with any ch in her line. sons of ; Joseph Hart Barnett 's sons were; father of Betty Barnett Turpin is; Thomas ( Luther/ spelling), Barnett witha bro, name William D Barnett. There must be surnames GRAVES connected to this family by way of marriage of a granmother or grt granmother etc. Thomas Barnett mar 3 Feb 1754 to Sarah Crookav___ Graves, ( lived in York or hanover Co's Va0 went to Granville Co. NC where his will dated 16 Apr 1779 prbated May 1780. Will book 1 page 273. Exec.
