    1. New Results Barnett DNA Project
    2. Mic Barnette
    3. Hi Everyone: As you know several of the participants in the Barnett DNA Project have been upgrading from 25 to 37 markers. Fo me this has been rather eye opening. I just got my results last night. In Group 2 there are three particpants (10943/17010/19009) matching one another 12 for 12 and 25 for 25. Two of them (10943/17010) have upgraded to the 37 marker test group and both still match identically-37 for 37. I am in Group 1, a descendant of John Barnett of Goochland County, Virginia who died there in 1756. On the 12 marker test I (9386) matched 5 other participants (10391/10518/15986/16597/16642) 12 for 12. 12937 matches 9 for 12 17652 matches 8 for 12 All five participants matching me 12 for 12 have taken the 25 marker test. Of those five only three (10518/15986/16642) match me 25 for 25. 10391 matches me with 1 step mutation thus 24 for 25 16597 matches me with 2 step mutations. Thus 23 for 25 12937 matches 19 for 25 17652 matches 19 for 25 Of those five named above, the results for two have been returned on the 37 marker test. None match me exactly 10391 still matches me with 1 step mutation at 36 for 37 15986 now matches me with a 2 step mutation at 35 for 37 17652 matches 23 for 37 For those who have matched anyone else and not upgraded your test to 37 you might wish to do so now. It takes a couple hours for me to update the website. I will get to it as quickly as I can. It may be this weekend or possibly next week. This is the reason I am sending out this note for the update. Sorry. As usual, I make an appeal to anyone (males) still named Barnett to join the group and to the females to sponsor a male Barnett of their choice. Again I will suggest people not named Barnett that can find one in your family willing to take the test to pool your money and split the cost among you and not to let the man pay to have his test taken, particularly if he is not into genealogy. On a personal side I would love to see more people related to me take the test. We need to determine who and how we relate. Then we need other Barnetts that can match those not yet matching anyone else. MIC

    2. Okay - so what does the mutations indicate - that you are less related than you thought at first? Or could the mutations be some weird influence from the female side - therefore you are still as closely related as you first thought? Ohhhh - I am getting confused - and sooo ready to believe any Barnett related to me is a mutant - I know my brothers and sons too well, you see!
