Does anyone have any information on Levi Wilburn Barnett born August 26, 1834 died 1910 may be buried at Brush Creek (no other information). His wife was Mary Jinkins. I know they had two children Wesley and William Zechariah. Jack Barnett
Jack I don't know if you know or have had contact with Participant 0012 (Kit 16597) in the Barnett Surname DNA Project but the two of you are claiming the same common ancestor, John born 1792 and dying 1861 Madison County, NC. This is where Brush Creek is according to participant 12. I first noticed this when I looked at the Associated Place Names page on the website ( http://micbarnette.bravepages.com ) . He has ancestors in the same places as you, including Brush Creek which on his notes is in Madison County, NC. Your notes just say Brush Creek with no state or county. As I compared family members I saw he had your ancestor Levi Wilburn listed as well. When I look at the Genetic Distance Chart on the website the two of you are 12/12 in the 12 marker test and 24/25 in the 25 marker test. He has not done a 37 marker test. On the 12 marker test You, Participant 12 and I all match 12/12 On the 25 marker test You and I match 24/25 (1 marker off) and He and I match 23/25 (two markers off) On the 37 marker test You and I match 36/37 (1 marker off) (You and I stay constant) and He has not taken that test. Since you and he seem to have an identified common ancestor and are off 1 step from one another it would seem likely one of you has had a marker change since 1792 otherwise I think you would both be identical. You may have to try to find another descendant of John Barnett born 1792 that comes off another child or someone descended from a sibling or older generation of that family and see what you come up with marker-wise. It is also a question you might refer to Family Tree DNA and let them look closer at the two tests. This may turn out to be an interesting case. >I think it is interesting that the John born 1792 is most lkikely a brother of my William Barnett who went to Tennessee - and is buried outside of Brush Creek, Smith Co, Tennessee. Also - my brother, who is participant #9 also matches JAck 24/25 markers - so the possibility that his John is the John I have had a hard time pinning down is very good. Also, that #12 is another relative. I LIKE the DNA project.
