Baldwin & Brannon researcher's Well researcher's. I have a dilemma; Hope you can understand my message below. I received a letter from a Frances Brown from in VA about 1 or more years ago. I am looking for her. She is a direct descendant in the Baldwin and ( as she said )Brannon family. She sent me family Group sheets of her direct line from Jehiel Baldwin who mar Bridget Goodwin in 1749 possibly ( my memory of her letter I have someplace) Ct or Mass.. They had Rebecca Baldwin b June 1750 in Milford, New Haven, Ct. She has her as wife of John Brannon b 1745 in Ireland. She also sent the descending direct line of them down to and including herself. I have believed this to be a true record of this line and family because.;;; Frances Brown's COMPLETE LINE with this Baldwin connection HAS LIVED IN THE WINCHESTER, VA (W VA) AREA FROM THE 1700'S DOWN TO HERSELF TODAY. I beleive she ought to know more so than anyone else I have contacted or seen anywhere. But I know one that don't .. I contacted one of our good Brannon Genealogy persons, Larry Brannon in Greenville, NC abt this. He said he has met and talked to her in person but never thought to ask her if this Rebecca's last name was Baldwin as that is what he already had on it. He also said that anything she told him and he got from her, he said he found to have been correct as he went to Court House in Winchester, WVa and got copies of vitals etc.. He said that her word was as good to him as a original record since her direct line was all from, and having lived in same area to and with herself. Now since a marriage record hasn't been located, I am told that Rebecca's name is not to be said it was Baldwin unless I have a original record of her marriage to John Brannon in about 1765/6?? in wherever, Pa, Ct. Mass. or ???? I have Rebecca's record as a dau of Jehiel and Bridget from the CC Baldwin BOOK of 1881. Also from other's of their children's descendants that had not known about each other with same info. Also there is genealogy recorded in a bible ( unkown where it is now) that a grandson of John and Rebecca though a son, William Brannon's line that had Rebecca's name written in as believed to have been written as Baldwin of which when last seen, part of letters were not clear as to what they were after Bal and the d win was faded out somewhat as was in pencil. The d partly showed and was determined to have been Baldwin at the time of then. My question is this; Would you or is it good reason to accept this Rebecca's last name as Baldwin with this info from Frances Brown???? and from the Bible even though this Bible has not been located and Frances Brown may still be living but I have not been able to make a contact again. Also from the Family Group Sheets written in by Frances Brown that was sent to me and other's??? If anyone out there has any info about this or knows where Frances Brown the direct descendent of John and Rebecca (Baldwin) Brannon or iws connected to either or anyone in this Brannon or Baldwin line, please contact me by my personal E MAIL below. Thank you all for any help here. I have been reprimanded for saying Rebecca's name is Baldwin as someone else thinks it was Ball or some other name. I also did my homework on any other Rebecca with name of Ball, Baldwin, Baldin, and other similar name in the time period and NOT find even ONE that would fit here so far.. in about 5 yrs. I have been told I should send a warning that Rebecca's last name here is not proven and therefore not to be taken as true as it is being spread and people have picked it up from my posting of genealogy. This is NOT TRUE. I have only told people in E mails about what I recieved from Frances Brown etc. I do not have a Gecom Genealogy in WCFT etc. I have seen others with them. I saw her name as Rebecca Baldwin before I got the info from Frances Brown and have seen more with other siblings of Rebecca's and Jeihel and Bridget Goodwin Baldwin since. To me, Frances Brown ,who I also had talked with by phone before and after she sent me the F G Sheets info is TRUTH. I will continue to check out any of the name and am determined to find any other that could fit here????? So if you see this John Brannon with wife name Rebecca BALDWIN please be ware as I am not the first person as I know myself that it was out there before I told anyone about my find.
