    3. The Barnett DNA Surname website has been updated. See particularly the Participant and Results pages. The website address is http://micbarnette.bravepages.com To date there are 14 participants. The results for 8 have been returned and the results for 4 more are expected within the next few weeks. Two people who received kits have not returned them to the lab. We have two groups of people who have matched one another. The first group contains four people: Participant 0001 (Kit 9386) and Participant 0003 (Kit 10518) and Particpant 0008 (Kit 15986) all match 25 for 25 markers Participant 2 (Kit 10391) matches the other three 24 for 25 markers. The second group has two participants. Participant 4 (Kit 10812) and Participant 5 (Kit 10943) are 25 for 25 marker matches. In addition we have two participants named Barney who have joined the group. You can read more about the test and view the results on the website at http://micbarnette.bravepages.com just click on the DNA website link. You can see the DYS chart on the Results and Anaysis Page. Family Tree DNA publishes a free e-zine each month. Anyone interested in DNA studies will enjoy reading it. There is a link on our wesbite and one from the FTDNA website to subscribe to it. Family Tree DNA now offers a 37 marker Y-DNA test. I will be upgrading to that marker test when I finally get my Christmas bills paid down some. We all to consider upgrading, particularly those who have matches with other participants. The increase in markers will enable us to know more precisly how close we relate to anyone we match. You can read about it on the FTDNA website. Also there is a new free program where anyone can place their marker results in a free database at www.ysearch.org I have not done so yet but will do so in the near future. I have seen a link on my private DNA page of FTDNA where I can click on a link and go to the page to insert my marker information. Anyone, no matter which company tested the sample, can participate in the database. If two people took their tests through different companies, this database is able to determine if the two relate or not. Both parties have to have their marker values in the database. We need more participants. It is not necessary for the person taking the test to pay for it. If you are researching Barnetts try to find a male in your family still named Barnett and who descends from your ancestor. The website describes the website and where to obtani the test kit. MIC MIC
