The Barnett DNA Surname website has been updated. See particularly the participant and Results pages. The website address is http://micbarnette.bravepages.com To date there have been three participant results returned and two more expected within the next couple weeks. The three that have been analyized all show they are related. Two participants are a 25 for 25 marker match The third matches the first two 24 for 25 markers. The two that match have South Carolina ancestry and presumably (one does have ) both have Virginia ancestry. By having a complete match the indications are these two are definitley have a common ancestor possibly within a few generations of where they have been researched. One participant descends from JoRoyall (a Revolutionary soldier) who was born 1758 in Goochland County, VA but moved to Spartanburg, SC about 1780. He is a grandson of John Barnett 1689-1756 of Goochland County, VA. The second participant has his ancestry traced to John Barnett 1792-1861, possibly of Greenville Co, SC which is next to Spartanburg, SC. If anyone recognizes this John Barnett 1792-1861 ( wife was Nancy) please let us know. The third participant descends from Nathan Barnett Revolutionary War Soldier born 1729 in New Kent County, VA and died 1804 in Greene County, Georgia. He also descends from Nathan Jr, son of Nathan Sr and Nathan III, son of Nathan Jr. This also President Lyndon Johnson's ancestor. The indicator in this case leads us to believe there is strong evidence the Goochland and New Kent County Barnetts are related. More research is needed to prove how that relationship is manifested. It is a fluke that these three particpants match. None of the participants have ever met or know each other. It would be nice to get more participants to take the test and study how other Barnett lines relate to the one already established. MIC
