I am looking for information on Levi Marion Barnett(e), b. 9/7/1835, d. 12/7/1919 married Margaret Morrison in 2/24/185?, all events taking place in Perry Co., Al. Levi was my gg grandfather and I cannot figure out who his parents might have been. I believe that his mother's first name was Frances. I find him in the 1850 census as a teenager living with Frances Barnett (see the census detail below). I also assume that William Barnett is some sort of male relative. Levi and Frances were living next door to William Barnett in 1850 and Frances is later found living in his household. I do not believe that William and Levi are brothers as Levi states that both his parents were born in GA and William lists his parents as being born in SC. Maybe they were cousins or nephew/uncle? Chairmaking is a prominent profession of these Barnett's. I believe that Levi's parents would have come to Alabama sometime between 1815 and 1830, from Georgia, maybe stopping at other locations in Alabama before arriving in Perry Co. It has been suggested that the Frances listed in the 1840 & 1850 census that my ancestor is living with was Frances HEARD Barnett (wife of John Jeremiah BARNETT, married in Morgan Co., GA 07 Jun 1815). There were a lot of Heard families that arrived in Perry Co. during the right time frame, and there was a Jeremiah Barnett that bought 3 plots of land in Perry Co. in the 1830's, but I haven't been able to tie any of this to Levi. Any connections, pointers or just suggestions of other ways to research this would be greatly appreciated.
