I am administrator of the Barnett Surname DNA Project. . The Project has a website at http://micbarnette.bravepages.com Just scroll down and click on the Project link. At present we have 6 people named Barnett in the test group. One participant's results are posted. We have two results due any day and two more in a couple weeks, plus one or more comming that we know about after that. It will be interesting to see what we come up with. Naturally, for the study of the surname we need as many people named Barnett as we can find. After a while we will see patterns and will be able to identify associations between groups of Barnetts in one place and know they relate to Barnetts in another place. The test will also disprove what some people believe to be true about connections of one family in one place to a Barnett family in another place. So, the DNA study will prove some things and disprove others. The test is based on Y-Chromosomes that are passed down from father to son each generation since the begining of time. The person taking the test has to be a male currently named (born with the surname) Barnett. If you know of someone from line who is currently named Barnett we would like to have them tested and compare the results to others taking the test. Groups of researchers, related to but not currently named Barnett or women, can sponsor a someone named Barnett. Most of your questions about the project are answered on the website.
