    3. Freed, depending on the date, means either freed slave or freed indentured servant. Also, depending on the time, it could mean freed black indentured servant. ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Joy Barnett" <jbarnett@wideopenwest.com> Reply-To: BARNETT-L@rootsweb.com To: BARNETT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BARNETT] Perry Barnett 1800 MS, AR Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2003 15:00:53 -0600 I'm looking for any information on Perry Barnett, father of Silas L. Barnett, born Leake Co. MS about 1845. Silas' death certificate lists Perry Barnett as father, born AR and Dollie Brewer, born USA. I found a Perry Barnett in Maryland listed as "freed". Does that necessarily mean a freed black, or can it be a freed Native American? There is also supposed to be Cherokee Indian in the ascendency of Silas Dogan Barnett, g-grandson of Perry and Dollie. Any suggestions, anyone? ==== BARNETT Mailing List ==== Make sure that you include a meaningful subject line. Subject lines are important.
