    2. And again, This is a letter.... the following letter was sent by James E. Burdick. Marydell, Mississippi January, 1907 Mr. R. F. Barnett My dear nephew and family this will inform you that we are all yet on the land, and among the living and blessed with a reasonable portion of health and strength, and truly hope each of you are well, and enjoying life to its fullest extent. I received you good and highly appreciated letter of December 13 and would have answered it before now, but have waited until I could write to Russ Ray and have him send me the old family record, which I will copy. So here it is, commencing with your Grand father and Grandmother Barnett Calvin Barnett, born June 14, 1804 Ann Barnett, born Oct 9, 1809 Sarah Barnett born Sept 29, 1826 ( Sallie Owens ) Jonathn Munroe Barnett ( your father ) Sept 21, 1828 He joined Co. K 28th Miss. infantry in Sept 1861 He died in the month of Oct 1861, at Lewisburg, West Virginia Elviry Elizabeth Barnett, born Feb 15, 1829 Catherine J.Barnett, born March 6, 1833 Tolitha Ann Barnett, born June 14, 1835 Aeron Lafayet Barnett, born May27, 1837 Samuel Hall Barnett, born May 9, 1839 Richard R, Barnett, born Feb 15, 1841 Nancy Jane Barnett, born April 13, 1843 Taylor Calvin Barnett, born June 13, 1846 Cassa L. Barnett, born Feb 16, 1853 The foregoing is a record of your Grandfather Barnett's family. Russ Ray didn't have any record of your mother or her family, but if she had lived till now she would have been about 76 or 77 years old. She was Sarah or Sallie Hughes. Your Grandfather Hugheses name was Lankford. His boys were Gabrel ( called Gabe ) William and Jim. Your mother's sister's were Polly, Nancy, Reny and Lindy. Those of them who are living are in Edwardsville, Alabama by writing to him I guess he will give you a full record of the Hughes family.If you write to him address A.J. Burges, Edwardsville, Alabama. He is a very rich man himself. I would love very much to visit you and if I keep in good health I may visit you next summer or fall. I would be so glad to see you, and I am so glad that you are doing so well- Oh yes in regard to your own age: Your Aunt Mary says you was about three weeks old when her and me were married, which was the 6th day of December, 1860. I will close by asking you to write often and come see your Old Uncle and Aunt when you can. R.R. Barnett
