Hi Maxcine, I know you are very knowlegeable of many branches of the differeny Barnett families. I was wondering if you could help with mine my ggg-grandfather was Berry W. Barnett born somewhere in s.c. in 1813. I know I don't have much to go on he married a Martha ?abt.1833. They had the following children, Matthew Abraham born Jan 24 1834 in Ga.,lucy a. born abt.1836,nancy a. born abt.1837,William p. born abt.1838,Julianna born abt. 1840,rebecca born abt.1842, Martha born abt.1844, B.W. born abt.1848,Berry abt. 1850, all born in Ga. so i know they were in Ga. by 1834. Matthew Abraham was my gg grandfather although he only went by Abraham even on his service papers and his marriage certificate. He came to Robertson co. texas abt. 1900, first I think he was in Grimes co texas in abt.1888. I think maybe Berry W. was born in either Pendelton co. S.C. or Pickens co. If you could help I would really appreciate it. Carolyn Stephenson
Hi Doris, I know you are searching for Barnett in N.C. I am searching for a Berry W. Barnett born in 1813 in S.C. but I don't know where are who his parents were he was my ggg grandfather, I don't even know when he died I think the W. in his name was for Wilkes. I know he married a Martha ? He moved to GA. abt. 1840 or 50 in 1880 he was in ALA. I think he probably died there. SOME OF HIS CHILDREN CAME HERE TO Texas around 1888. He did'nt come with them so I suppose he was dead then. They always seem to live in the same area in GA. & Ala. If you could help I would thank you Carolyn Stephenson
Hi, My gr-gr-grandparents: Francis I. Barnett, born in 1835 in Ohio, died Nov. 1870 in Indianapolis, IN. married in 1858 in Hendricks Co., IN: Louisa (Lucy) Pittman, born around 1839 in IN Children: --James Robert, born in 1859, died in 1901 in Indianapolis - my gr-grandpa; --Nora, born around 1861 in IN; --Carrie, born around 1863 in IN; --Jesse, (female) born around 1868 in OH There were several Barnett families that were obviously related to eachother in Marion Co., IN at the time, but I'm not sure they're connected to Francis. If these names are familiar to anyone, I'd love to hear from you! Bonnie Sherman barnett1@comgen.com
Joe, Thank you for your reply. This could be a link: 6. JAMES P.6 BARNETT (JOHN5, JOHN4, JOHN3, WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1)3 was born 1762 in Amherst Co, VA, USA, and died Unknown. He married ELIZABETH HANE MCKINLEY. She died Unknown. Child of JAMES BARNETT and ELIZABETH MCKINLEY is: 7. i. JAMES7 BARNETT, b. 1786, North Carolina; d. Unknown. The link i have been researching might put this family in the Allamance County, NC area in the mid to late 1700s. No data yet, but there is a genealogical library in Greensboro, NC, if you can travel there. Greensboro is not Allamance, but one county over. The interesting part is, there were MANY James and John Barnett names in that area in the time frame referenced. Much of northern NC was owned by the Barnett family at one time or another. The laws of primogeniture pretty much disinherited the younger sons, so they often moved on. I would look there if you can.
