    3. I think you will find the Barnetts of Montgomery AL were in Colonial Georgia (just before the Revolution) particularly along the Broad River. Prior to Georgia these people were in Virginia. Marks-Barnett and Kin by Pettigrew is a good book to research these families. It is often found in genealogical libraries particularly the 1972-ish edition. The Barnetts of Perry Co, AL initially came from Spartanburg District, SC. Prior to that they were in Virginia. The Barnett book by Janice Barnett Craft is a good book for this family. There were few copies of this book published. Both books mentioned above are out of print. From our Barnett Surname DNA Project it is appearing that these two Barnett families are related way back in Colonial Virginia. We will have a better feel for that after a few more Barnett participant's take the test and the results for some pending tests are returned. There was also another Barnett in Montgomery Co., Thomas M. Barnett, who bought land about the same time, but not close to the other Barnetts above. All this occured from 1828 -1835. I noticed subscriber Donna Johnson is apparently searching for Gehoida, too. He was my Great Great Grandfather. Maybe we can fill in some blanks for each other. I have been researching this man and his decendents for about 5 years. I would love to compare notes.

I am looking for additional information about the Earls. In particular, there is a story in my family that somewhere around the start of the nineteenth century, the Earls inherited money from a distant relative in the British Isles, and that Isabelle might have gotten some ancestral papers along with the monetary inheritance. Can anyone provide me with any information on that inheritance?

    3. sorry to burst that bubble of optimism however there are no lving male barnett's of my mum's family in Australia. If you asked 20 odd years ago it would have been alright. My grandfather's wife passed away recently aged 91 but she couldn't recall many facts that could help us with our search. Only my grandmother and grandfather came to Australia in 1964 and the rest of his family stayed in England. If his brothers and sisters are alive and I doubt it very much as they would be 100+, i still don't know much about them but if you want any info just let me know and I send what I know about them. Some negative phobia, maybe. >From my experience, I've tried to get several PACE males in the UK to enter the PACE DNA study. No one answers, even when US Pace descendent folk offer to pay the cost. "Mic Barnette" <mic@barnettesbooks.com> says: I am the administrator of the Barnett Surname DNA Project. Currently we have 16 participants in the study group. It would be great if you could locate any of your male Barnett relatives who would be willing to participate in our project. Currently all our participants have deep American roots except one who lives in Austrailia and traces his ancestry back to Ireland. To have Barnetts in the test group whose identifiable ancestry goes back to the Bristish Isles and Europe would be of benefit to all. I have traced my line DNA Group 8 to Tennessee, where I found on the census rolls a listing of my Barnett family with Mary Heaslett being listed as living with them. Her age was in the 80's?? and she was listed as having been from North Carolina. I have to dig out my old records and look for the notes that I took some 6 0r 7 years ago, but that's what I remember. I have not been able to confirm anything else before that. AND it gets more confusing because the DNA research suggesting there are ties to South Carolina, not Pennsylvania. I have not had time to do ANY research since the DNA came in... Basically, my line is from NC, to Bradley County, TN, to Anna, Collin County Texas.
