My Barnetts I'm researching: 1. James Barnett + Virginia ? (possibly Caldwell) b. June 4, 1858, d. June 30, 1930, in Blacksburg, VA 2. Lucy John Barnett b. April 25, 1889, in Montgomery Co. VA d. Dec. 23, 1974 in Montgomery Co. Hospital, Blacksburg, VA. + Charles Gordon Morgan b. Sept. 25, 1880 in Montgomery Co. VA d. May 27, 1959 in Radford, Montgomery Co. VA. m. Sept. 30, 1906 in German Baptist Ch. in Slusser, VA 2. Henrietta Barnett b. Nov. 2, 1877 d. Dec. 24, 1953 in Pulaski, VA + ? Haglin 3. Della Barnett b. unknown d. unknown + unknown Della is listed as my mother's mother on her marriage certificate of her marriage to Harvey Lewis Craghead Sept. 14, 1916 at Brush Mountain near Blacksburg, VA. I am searching for Della's birth/death/marriage records. The Montgomery Co. Census of 1910 listed Della as a housekeeper in the home of Flem Caldwell. Also my mother, Leslie and Virginia Barnett (believed to be Della's mother) were listed with the same household. Corky
I have been reading recently about Jackson Barnett, and decided it was time to mention another Jackson Barnett. Jackson was born about 1839 in VA, the son of Aaron and Elizabeth Clark Barnett. Aaron and Elizabeth Barnett were living in Clinton County, IN in 1850. Jackson was living with his parents in the 1860 census of Clinton County, IN. By 1870 Ephraim and Lydia Barnett are living near Aaron and Elizabeth Barnett in Clinton Co. Does anyone know if Jane Barnett Baker is related to any of these Barnetts? Jane Barnett was born about 1807/1810 in KY. She married Abraham Baker in 1835 in Rush County, IN. Later they moved to Clinton County, IN. Fran [email protected]

I have two William Barnetts in my mother's family. They both migrated from Georgia through Tennessee before the Civil War and settled in Panola County, MS where descendants still live. The first William married a Dorcas? and the second married Mary Catherine Burford. They are my great, great grandparents and great grandparents respectively. Would like to know where in Georgia they lived and where they came from. Thanks. Nita Anthony Davis [email protected]

That is to say First of all I leave & bequeath unto my well & beloved wife Clemens her saddle mare and Furniture also her Bed & Furniture Also Twenty Pounds due by Felix Gilbert after paying what Debts are due by me out of it (if she does not marry) or else to Fall to the youngest Children, viz Ruth, Isabella Clements, like wise she is to have the Plantation during her widowhood. Also I leave and bequeath unto my Three Daughters Ann Barnet & Mary McNight & Rachel Barnet one shilling to each it is also my will that the above legacy be payed or tendered the day of my Burial. I allso leave & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Clemens the young Roan mare and Coalt & side saddle. I also leave and bequeath unto my Five Daughters viz: Margaret Clemens, Elizabeth Clemens, Rebeccah Clemens, Ruth Clemens & Isabel Clemens the remainder moveable Estate to be sold & equally divided betwixt my Five Daughters above mentioned and I do hereby appoint Thomas Gilham and James Campbell my Sole Executrix and Executors of this my last Will & Testament. Hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of Septmeber One Thousand seven hundred and fifty nine. Signed Sealed and Delivered His in the presence of Jacob (I) Clemons Andrew Hamilton Mark Thomas Lloyd Robert Lockridge As you can see, Jacob Clemons (Clements) had two daughters who married Barnetts. One was named Ann and the other named Rachel. There was no "Ann Rachel." Also, other records I have seen (but cannot lay my hands on right now) indicate that Rachel was the one who married a James Barnett. Chalkley's Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia includes in vol 1, p. 480 an excerpt from a bundle of old papers regarding the estate of Jacob Clements reference to Sarah, wife of Ezekiel Gillima, Margaret wife of Samuel Davidson, Ann wife of _____ Barnett, Rebecca wife of Joseph Forgay, Ruth wife of John Davidton, Mary wife of McKnight, and Rachel wife of McKnight, so evidently Rachel was left a widow and then married a McKnight - unless either Chalkley or the original scribe made an error. There is no date on these papers. This was not the same James Barnett who lived in Louisa & Goochland counties before moving to Caswell County NC where he died in 1804. That James Barnett married Ann Davis, dau of John Davis of Louisa County. His widow Ann died in Pittsylvania County VA in 1817. Janelle Swearingen, Tulsa

This is a long shot, but I have a Walter Barnett who married Lemma WRENN. Walter died apparently before I was born or shortly after, so that would be about 1940. I have no other information on Walter except that he was a railroad man. Lemma is my aunt, and I have no other information about Walter. Even though I am researching the BARNETT surname, he does not appear to have any connection to my father's family. I'm sending this in case some has a Walter BARNETT that they are tracing. Hi Emma, and any others who may be connected to any of these names. To answer your question below, sorry I don't at this time have a good answer. He could very well be related. I was unable to locate a Robert Sylvanus Armstrong BARNETT but within the BARNETT IMFORMATION we have found severel BARNETT men mar. to CAMPBELLS and one Female mar. to an ARMSTRONG> I also found a WILLIAM BARNETT mar. to a RHODA who had a son THOMAS but that was all of the imformation included for them. ABOVE IS WHAT WAS QUOTED TO ME IN THIS MESSAGE RECIEVED FROM THE HISTORICAL CENTER on 1 Oct. 1999 yesterday. (Now I will add to this what else I have which does substantiate the above imformation of which I am contacting them to furnish me with the rest they have. Maxine) The WILLIAM BARNETT is the one she has b to the second THOMAS in 1777 and mar to the RHODA ( CAMPBELL). They are the parents of ROBERT SYLVANUS ARMSTRONG BARNETT, known as R S A BARNETT when he got to Grayson Co Tx. Somewhere I have more children to WILLIAM and RHODA BARNETT not at my hands at present. I will have to check Census records in Mo. Morgan Co. and possibly other places before they went to Tx. I'm not sure if William went or not but I beleive more of the siblings of R S A and ch of William did as R S A did. WILLIAM S BARNETT ( I believe the S stands for SYLVANAS)was one of the early settlers in Morgan Co. Mo settleing in TWP 42 Range 17 southwest or northwest section 6, 25 Apr. 1835. Same WILLIAM was a Member of Morgan Co Mo Court in 1836. It is probably the same BARNETT"S that moved to Grayson Co Tx and mar. into the Anderson White family. THe WHITE Family also was in same place in Mo. DICY ELLEN WHITE mar. R S A BARNETT in GRAYSON CO TX 19 Jan 1854 R S A BARNETT was the son of WILLIAM S Barnett and RHODA CAMPBELL , she b. 1795. Both RHODA and WILLIAM were b in York Co S C> R S A was b 29 Apr. 1827 also in York Co. S C. Dicy and R S A BARNETT were parents of four ch. WILLIAM ANDERSON, b 1855, CYNTHIA ELIZABETH b ca 1857 ?, mar. Harry C. West, JAMES DAVIS b 1860 mar. Cora Champion, .and an infant b and d same day in 1863. Dicy also died the same day. and were they bur. together. WILLIAM ANDERSON BARNETT mar. MARY S LANE 11 Oct. 1874 Grayson Co Tx.. They had JOHN ROBERT BARNETT b 7 Oct 1875 in Farmington, Grayson , Tx. Mary S Lane died after the birth of JOHN date is unconfirmed at this time. but prob. abt 1877/78. as John told family he was 3yrs old and some say just after John was born. His father WILLIAM ANDERSON remarried abt Sept. 1878. to SARAH ANN HAYES in Grayson Co tx. JOHN ROBERT BARNETT went with his father and step mother and new siblings abt 1889 to AARAGO, COOS CO Ore. via Salt Lake, Blue Mts into Ore following the OLD OREGO TRAIL, and south at The Dallas to Willamete valley., Or.e by Wagon Train. The families left behind didn't hear from them again and in abt 1985 when a descendant went to Farmington Tx to check for surviving relatives after almost 100 yrs., it was found out that they had thought the Barnett's had been killed by Indians.
