Please yall keep an eye out especially around Limestone County area of Alabama, or into Etowah county area of Alabama. Please keep a watch out for my Marchel Barnett Fagan. I just found proof that her husband Adam Fagan died in 1901 and she was still alive in 1907. She was the daughter of Amos Barnett ( he should be buried in the Etowah area also, maybe Limestone, and his wife is reported to be Catherine Mayhew (Mayhue) both born in NC or just over in Va. Marchell was b. in SC and moved to Forsythe County Ga. with her father at some point. Her mother died back in NC/VA. She married Adam Fagan (Figgin) in 1847 Forsythe County Ga. then moved to Etowah Co.Ala. Their children ended up by marrying age in Limestone county Ala. area. Susan with finally a glimmer of hope! YES I KNEW her father was Amos Barnett! yeehaa!
Does anyone have a Penelope or Nellie Barnett in their line in SC or AL, ca. 1810-1820? I have the estate settlement papers for the estate of James Barnett, who died in SC (we think) about 1813, but the estate was settled beginning in 1817 in what was then Montgomery County, Alabama, Mississippi Territory. Anyhow, the settlement names several people that I am not familiar with, including a Penelope, a Polly and a Rachel. I am assuming these are all Barnetts, no last name is given. The administrator of the estate was James' widow, Isabel (Isabella) Johnston Barnett, who had moved to AL by 1816 with her children following James' death. Polly and Rachel are listed because Isabel claimed having provided room and board for them for 2 1/2 yrs, and states they are both under 14. Penelope's name is found in the list of household goods gotten by Isabel from the estate - it lists a bedstead and mattress for Isabel and a bedstead and mattress for what appears to be the name "Penelope". (No mention of beds for Polly or Rachel.) Could Penelope have been Isabel's mother-in-law? We know nothing of the parents or siblings of James or Isabel. None of these names applies to the children of James and Isabel, or their grandchildren, so far as we know. If you have a Polly, a Rachel, or a Penelope who disappeared from SC ca. 1816, please let me know! I may know where they went!! All help appreciated. Sherry Bowers
Hello to all, these are queries full of questions and information I have some info on family of James Mitchell (Michel, Michael ) Barnett. He was the son of William Barnett and Mary Heazlet. Have a bible record of William's. I will be happy to exchange information. My ancestor was Thomas Barnett who married Elizabeth Davis in McMinn Co. Tennessee. They lived in Monroe, Polk,White and Smith Co. Tennessee. Thomas born ca. 1790 ############################################################### I am descended from John Barnett ( 1717--1804 ) and his wife Ann Spratt ( 1718--1801 ) They came to America before 1736, probably in 1730 from Ireland; the two families apparently traveled together. They settled first, for a few months or years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, then traveled to Mecklenburg Co. North Carolina about 1740, where they lived and died. Some of the family moved to Wilkes Co. Georgia, near the end of the Revolutionary War. Some family members continued westward, settling in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas ****************************************************************************** ************* Am looking for information on Peter Barnett, who died sometime before 1672, probably in Westmoreland or Northumberland Co. Virginia. Only one child has been identified, Anna Barnett who was already married to Richard Tidwell in 1674 when he received for her some property left in trust by her father. Barbara Barnett Gartrell Barb,

Lancaster, son of Richard Lancaster and Joanna Singleton of Orange Co. Virginia. ****************************************************************************** *************** Searching for parents of Jesse Barnet(t), born 5 April 1823 in Georgia. Stories passed down indicated his parents were born in South Carolina. He married Rebecca Hampton, possibly in Washington Co. Tennessee census in 1830. Also searching for parents of Rebecca Hampton Barnett born 10 Aug 1818, in Tennessee. She had a sister living in Washington Co. Tennessee in 1852. Her name was Thalney Miner. Hello to all, Early Barnett generations in Virginia In Marks-Barnett Families and Their Kin at Georgia Archives, there is another line of thought concerning the possible ancestry of Nathan Barnett, 1729-1804. One source of information gives the early ancestry of the branch of Barnetts, to whom we turn our attention, as Frank Barnett who married Sukey Johnson. They had seven sons, one of whom Nathaniel m. Lucy Webb and William are two. It was Nathan, not Nathaniel, who married Lucy Webb. There are two reasons, neither one conclusive, for believing that Nathan, born 1729, was the son of Frank and Sukey (Johnson )Barnett. 1. The second son of Nathan and Lucy (Webb) Barnett was named Mial Johnson Barnett. 2. In October 1769, Nathan Barnett petitioned for 200 acres on Little Kiokee Creek in St.Paul's Parish, Georgia; at the same time William Barnett petitioned for 200 acres on Little Kiokee Creek in St. Paul's Parish, Georgia. Could these two men, Nathan and William Barnett, be brothers, sons of Frank and Sukey (Johnson) Barnett may be accounted for. ( The Marks- Barnett publication gave no further information on Frank and Sukey ( Johnson ) Barnett. Barbara Barnett Gartrell Barb,

I am a Barnett living in Mabank, Kaufman Co., Texas. I am looking for information on my GGG Grandfather. Family legend has it that 3 Barnett brother came to Texas together. Unfortunately the family do not remember then names of the 3 brother ... some think it was 'Jack' (my GGG grandfather), George, and John. Some have other names ... Jack and George seem to be in most of the memories. But Jack's name was not his real name ... it could have been a part of his name ... i.e.. Andrew Jackson Barnett. Part of the family legend says that 'Jack' was arrested for killing a man (there are many variations on this story) and he was put in prison in Rusk, Texas... I checked and Rusk State Hospital was a part of the prison system at that time. Somehow there was a mix up and Lucinda was told that he died in prison. But in later years they discovered their mistake. To late for Lucinda had already married and widowed and married again. But the story goes that John James (their youngest son) went to see his father in prison when he was 21 and his father said he was not his son, that his son was a baby. In later years he was released and rumored to have married a lady near Rusk, name unknown. (It is said that the town she lived in was named for her family.) We just don't know. What we do know is the following ... Benjamin Franklin Simmons, b. abt 1760, North Carolina; d. abt 1843, Lamar Co., Texas; married first (September 24, 1798, Guilford Co., North Carolina) to Jean McBride they had the following children: James ... abt 1799 Margaret ... abt 1802 Mary ... abt 1804 Malinda ... abt 1806 Sallie ... abt 1815 David Philip ... abt 1816 then abt 1817 Benjamin Franklin Simmons married Catherine ? in Tennessee their children were as follows: Jinsey ... abt 1818 John Benson ... Nancy ... abt 1820 Obadiah ... May 1821 Elizabeth C. ... abt 1822 Benjamin Franklin, Jr., abt 1828 Isabella ... May 10, 1826 Catherine ... abt 1831 Ardena A. ... April 18, 1832 Catherine b. abt 1831 married (June 17, 1847; Lamar Co., Texas) to William Gregory ... both William and Catherine died or were killed (family lore says they were killed by indians) about 1849. They had only one child that I can find ... Lucinda Emily Gregory b. abt 1847, Texas d. February 4, 1933, Forestburg, Tx Lucinda was raised by her grandmother Catherine Simmons and her aunt Ardena (Simmons) Robnett (sp). Lucinda married first a man named Barnett ... ??? Barnett (Jack?) their children were: Tom b. abt 1873 John James b. February 25, 1875, Wolf City, Hunt Co., Texas. d. April 4, 1940, Weed Patch, California. John was married September 24, 1901, in Revenna, Fannin Co., Texas to Bessie H. Hord b. February 16, 1885, Montgomery, Kane Co., Ill (?) Lucinda next married Westly Carroll, who died within two years of their wedding. She had one child of this union, who was still born. Lucinda lastly married James Monroe Nethery, she and James remained married till their deaths ... they had many children. Please, if you know anything about this family let me know.
