Looking for relatives of the above Barnett. He was married to a Eunice. I have no dates for either of them. He had a son, Rufus Putnam Barnett, 1841-1913, married to Susan W. Hutchinson. He had at least one brother. Rufus and Susan had the following children: Walter P., Rufus H., Roy M., Bertie, Rae P., Derby H., Earl S., and Gladys, all born between 1875 and 1889. The children were all born in Oakland, California.
This was sesnt to another list and thought all genealogy lists should see and each individual should act accordingly to help preserve your won privacy. I happen to know this person and he is a wonderful former naval officer and a patriot. Sarah ******************************** Big Brother is at it again. And again, I apologize to any who may consider this off-topic. I manage a number of lists myself, and I would not object to such msgs on them. Further, I have no other method of apprising you of this. Many recipients are involved in genealogy research. Did you see any columnist like Myra V. Gormley or Dick Eastman address the problem of the Carnivore, about which I addressed most of you a few weeks ago? Have you heard a peep out of NGS, FGS, or particularly Gentech, an organization supposedly promoting responsible use of technology in genealogy research? >From my tirade against Carnivore, I made a number of really neat new friends and probably a slew of enemies that didn't respond. I rec'd only one negative, that from a person that somehow connected the Libertarian Party who provided me with the alert with the Nazi party! This alert I am doing on my own. About a year ago the Justice Dept. asked the FCC to make a ruling requiring ALL cell phone companies to be able to track their users from cell to cell, and to provide that info to law enforcement agencies WITHOUT A COURT ORDER. This is not a TAP, per se, but an ability to track the movement of anyone using a cell phone. Now comes the ticklish part: Electronic privacy of this nature is a POLITICAL question as is the problem of the Carnivore. Those of you that over the years have supported the ever increasing role of gov't in our lives have large measure of responsibility in this affair. Only a bloated, over large, over funded gov't could conceive of and fund a thing like Carnivore, and not consider this newest contrivance a major violation of the Constitution. And in case you think I am calling your attention to only causes supported by political conservatives of which I proudly acknowledge being, this fight in the US Court of Appeals in DC is being led by the ACLU, not known for its right wing agenda. What to do? How many of you contacted your congressbody regarding Carnivore? How many of you saw Dick Armie's (my congressman) press conference on the subject? There has been no law passed, no funds allocated by Congress for this. It is purely 'rule-making' by bureaucrats. I would further suggest that those of you involved in genealogy make mention of this on the lists you are on, holler at the folks at RootsWeb, USGenWeb, FGS, NGC, Gentech ([email protected] -- these folks are so secretive that they won't post the correct email address of a single director --- and yes, now that you ask, I do have them.), 'columnists'. GET ON THEIR BACKS. There is still smoke coming from Carnivore's nostrils, tho he has been smote a blow. Ask the candidates how they stand on such issues, don't vote just out of blind party loyalty, and watch how they vote. Many of you have complained about the lack of 'privacy', going to riduclous lengths to eliminate names and dates of living persons, etc. from your d/b's..... Now do something about the continuing attack on REAL privacy. Thank you for your time, and again I apologize for not being purely 'on-topic'. Joe Sissom

Hi Murray, I can't find your original email, but noticed your Australian email address. I'm researching Barnetts from Scotland that settled in Victoria, Australia, and wonder if there might be a connection... Captain John Shiirs BARNETT (of Dundee, Scotland) married Jane SMITH (year?) Children that I know of: John Shirrs BARNETT - c.1835 Aberdeen, Scotland - sailed to Victoria, Australia William BARNETT - c.1842 Dundee, Scotland - sailed to Victoria, Australia Shirrs (with variations of: Shiirs, Shirris, Sherris) seems to be a family name. It has been passed down through the generations in Australia. The BARNETT brothers married two HISLOP sisters in Victoria, Australia. The HISLOP sisters were also from Scotland. John Sherriss BARNETT married Janet HISLOP (c.1837 Glasgow, Scotland) in Melbourne Australia 1860. William BARNETT married Mary HISLOP (c.1840 Perth, Scotland) in Melbourne Australia 1863. Associated surnames: RYAN, SAYER, HEMSWORTH, YOUNG, HENDERSON, OSBORNE, PHILPOT & many others. Kind regards, Sherrie Blackman. Sydney, Australia. Hello, Looking for any information on Shadrac BARNETT .........born: abt. 1820 probably in Georgia.......may be spelled .........Shaedrick/Shaedrack/Shedrick....etc. md: Ann FIELDER or possibly (Mary Ann or ??) Looking forward to hearing from someone re: this BARNETT line? Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
I am trying to find information on the following line. i realise it isn't much, but it is all that i have:- Robert Barnett b. ? England. died ? England married to Amelia Sarah King born 1857 London England they had one child that I know of Arthur Barnett b. 1898 London England and died 1967 in Wanganui, New Zealand Arthur married during 1911 in New Zealand to a Maisy Irene Moore. Now i do know that Arthur returned to England during the 1930's to visit his mother who was getting on in years, and to see his brothers and sisters again. i have been lead to believe that Arthur's father Robert may have died prior to 1930. according yo a certificate Arthur was born in Leyton, London England any infomation would be appreciated. thank you
I post the following periodically hoping that someone new might see it, but I just recently received some more information on William and Elizabeth's children. Looking for ancestors, information on William Barnett b. March 20, 1825. I do not know where. His mother's maiden name may possibly have been Ballew. He married Elizabeth Caroline Allen possibly on March 28, 1847 in Gallatin, Illinois. There is a record of an EC Allen marring a William Barnett on that date but do not know if this is the same couple. I have names of three children, there may have been more, Mollie, Rhoda, and James Zacharia. James Zacharia is my line. (Received the following information in an e-mail. Feel reasonably sure that this is my William and Elizabeth. 1860 Hamilton Co., IL Census has Barnett, William 34 Elizabeth C. 34 Sarah F. 13 Alem 8 James Z. 5 Mary L. 4 Angeline 10 months Either Mollie and Rhoda are not William's and Elizabeth's children, or they were born after the 1860. Right now I am assuming they were born after 1860.) Do not know where the children were born, but James Zacharia married Lourella (Lilly) Tiora Gibson February 1, 1883 probably in McLeansboro, Illinois, or at least in Illinois because their first child was born in McLeansboro, Illinois. James' and Lilly's children are Eben Elben, Bertha E., William Wilson, and Charley Washington. I have more information on some of these lines, and can trace from William Barnett to myself. If you think you see a connection, please contact me, and you might want to visit my web site also. Dear Listers Peter BARNETT was the son of Thomas BARNETT and Caroline BASSIGNY. He was born in 1820 at Shiplake, OXF (England) a short distance from Henley-on-Thames. He was baptised on April 16, 1820 at Shiplake. He married Martha MARTIN on May 7, 1843 at Reading St Lawrence, BRK. Their known children were: Thomas Peter b. 1843 at Reading, BRK Harriet Ann b. 1845 at Kidminend, OXF Emma b. abt 1847 at Kidminend, OXF Sarah Elizabeth b. 1849 at Kidminend, OXF Jane b. 1851 There may have been other children after this. At the time of the 1851 census, the family was living at Checkendon, OXF. Peter was a bailiff. Sarah and Jane were both baptised at Checkendon on May 1, 1853. I cannot find Peter, Martha or Thomas on the 1881 census. It is possible that the family, along with so many others, left and went to the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Does anyone connect with this family? Lorraine Wuth Canberra, Australia attempting to find all my Barnett family wherever they went!
I just got the application for Danie Barnett born Aug. 22, 1882 in Kilgore, Texas Gregg Co., she died Nov. 1967 in Montague, Texas. Hello Everyone, I am looking for any information on my line of BARNETT's who lived in the Cleveland Ohio area approximately 1900 thru 1940's. I do not have much to go on. On my grandfathers (Robert BARNETT) SS application he listed his parents as Dwight BARNETT and Christine FREYLACH (maiden name). Family stories had it that Christine passed away in Cleveland while my grandfather was a young child and that Dwight left the family prior to that. I cannot find any information on his parents anywhere, No death notices or certificates. I have presumed the Dwight may have left the Cleveland area all together.. Any suggestions?? Thanks for any and all input. Cammie Researching- LAKATOS, KASA, KASKA, BARNETT, WORGULL, NUSSBAUM
Good Afternoon! I am looking for information on a new-found name in my never-ending story of my line. Perry Barnett is listed as being the father of Silas L. Barnett, on Silas' death certificate. Silas died in Yell Co. Ar Also listed as his mother is either Dollie(?) Brewer. Which I also have no information on. Silas was born in Alabama in 1846. He lists "Leek Co" Alabama as his birthplace on his military records, but I have been unable to find such a county there. Any and all help is much appreciated! I can't believe it but a database on fiche that I have been using at the local LDS with lots of missing pages is now FREE on ancestry.com. I cannot say enough good things about it. This online database gives you the ability to search for any person listed on the bond. i.e. bondsman or witness. I've already found several new leads and needless to say I am esctatic!!!!!!! If you are researching anyone in NC, you must look at this database. This database is FREE for next ten days at: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4802.htm North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868 Free Until 08/06/2000 Description: When planning to marry, the prospective groom took out a bond from the clerk of the court in the county where the bride had her usual residence as surety that there was no legal obstacle to the proposed marriage. On file in the North Carolina State Archives are 170,000 marriage bonds, covering the years 1741-1868. These records were abstracted by the Works Progress Administration. Most of the bonds contain the following information: groom's name, bride's name, date of bond, bondsmen, witnesses. For those with ancestors in early North Carolina, this will be a helpful database. Extended Description: Additional information may include parents' names, date of the marriage, person performing the ceremony, and other similar data. Source Information: Ancestry.com, comp. Hi, I'm researching the BARNETT family who lived in North Cerney Gloucester and in particular John BARNETT who was born in 1816 or 1817 and who married Phoebe. I recently discovered one of my husband's relations and at the beginning of July he saw his sister for the first time in 63 years. Marion.
Hi After my tremendous success last weekend in making contact with the great grandson of my missing James BARNETT, here goes on my next missing person. Peter BARNETT was born in 1820 at Shiplake, Oxon, a stones throw out of Henley-on-Thames. It is possible that he would state that he came from Henley. His parents were Thomas BARNETT and Caroline BASSIGNY. Peter married Martha MARTIN in 1843. At the time of the 1851 census Peter was living in Checkender and working as a Bailiff. Children: Thomas Peter b. 1843; Harriet Ann b. 1845, Emma b. abt 1847, Sarah Elizabeth b. 1849 and Jane b. 1851. There could be more. Peter's father, Thomas, died on November 20, 1852. I have lost his mother! I cannot find the family on the 1881 census so I suspect that they may have emigrated. Does this family ring a bell with anyone? Lorraine Wuth Canberra, Australia
