The information I have on Nicholas some of which is also in the Laurel Messenger. Nicholas Barndt born 1755 Germany died 1818 married Catherine Morningstar. They had three children: Jacob b. 1779, Elizabeth b. 1781, Catherine b. 1787. Jacob was my GGGGGrandfather married to Anna Margaret Shanefelt. They had 10 children: Jacob, John, Susannah, Nicholas, Catherine, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Henry. Their son Jacob was my GGGGrandfather. He was born 1802 married to Magdalena Zimmerman. They had a son named Nicholas. I can provide you with the information I have these families from the first Nicholas if you want to see if any of them match with what you have. No I don't even know who Rhoda's parents were. BUT..... It is said our Barnett's came from Pa to NC then to York Co. SC. Then to Tnn, Mo, Tx. Probably the Campbell's and Barnett's were moving from Pa together??? There were Barnett's in Londonderry Norther Ireland in 1600's and into Paxton ( Now West Hanover TWP in Lancaster , Now Dauphin Co Pa ib abt 1730??. Theses of a Willaim and bro John are not mine. Mine was a Thomas b abt 1730 and son, Thomas b abt 1750??, then known ch William (mine) bro Alexander, maybe a Cinthia, ( Sinthy), and others in York Co SC in late 1700's early 1800's. A Lot of them are bur. in the Bethel Church Cem which is still going. Very Large Cem. May connections there also. Patrick's Adams, McKenzie, Currence, Bigger's, others. Where in Pa were your Campbells??? Maybe my Barnett's were there in early 1700's??? Hi, just read your message about a Barnett married to a Campbell. Do you know anything about your Campbell family? I have a George Barnett who was born in 1859 and raised by a Hugh Campbell and his wife. Supposedly both the Barnett and the Campbell family were from PA, then OH before moving on to IN. Trying to find a connection between the two families. Linda
Well, hello, Deb~ We may have the same line here. Can you give any dates or sources? My Valentine was born ca 1815 in Somerset Co., Pa., to George Barnett and Mary Boyer. Hi Deborah: This is another case of where we need a member of your Barndt family in the Barnett DNA study. You seem to know about the Barndt name . Others may not know about it and think their family surname has always been Barnett or Barndt. If someone today named Barndt or any other spelling turned up in a DNA study somewhere theoretically your Barnetts would match up with the DNA. If somehow someone figured out where inGermany/Switzerland or whereever they were from it would help place the two lines together and give a place of origin in Europe. Hi, I have been reading all these emails on Barnett lines and have never seen any that tie into my line. Originally when my GGGGGrandfather Nicholas came over they went by Barndt. He settled in Somerset Co., PA. I read somewhere that his last name might have even been listed on the passenger list as Bernd. The Barndt surname was kept for a couple of generations and then they changed to Barnett. My grandfather told me he didn't know when it was changed. Most of my Barndt/Barnett's ancestors remained in the Somerset Co. PA area with later generations moving to Illinois I believe. If anyone has any ties to these Barnetts from Somerset Co., PA I would love to hear from the. Maxine: If you know any currently living males in this family (or any other Barnet/Barnett/Barnette family)that still have the Barnett surname we would love to have them participate in our Barnett DNA Project. I am off the Spartanburg, SC Barnetts who came from Goochland County, VA If we had descendants of the York County, SC Barnetts (these people as I understand it came to SC from Pennsylvania) participating in the project we could better establish different Barnett family lines of South Carolina. Mine from Va and yours from PA theoretically will not match in the DNA test as they are probably two entirely different and unrelated Barnett families. Therefore they would be of two different lineages/ancestors. Those Barnett researchers who could prove into one of the two lines would have a better set of documentation to separate the two lines or any others that are out there. I went through the 1850 Census of every state in the US years ago looking for Barnetts. I found Barnetts born in every state of the Union plus Barnetts born in nearly every country of the world. This tells me there is no way all Barnetts are related. I have found people named Berrnard, Barnard, Barnes, Bernhart, Barhart, Bernhardt, Barhardt, Bernardo, Bernetti, Berjinsky and dozens more have come to the US and Americanized their names to Barnett. Our DNA study will accept participants from any of these surnames whether they spell their name Barnett today or in the past. One may join th eproject at http://www.familytreedna.com just click on Family Surname Projects, then on B, then on Barnett Thanks, MIC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maxine Wilton" <mmwaw@sprynet.com> To: <BARNETT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 8:22 AM Subject: [BARNETT] Wm & Rhoda Campbell Barnett /family/ early 1800's > > Hello Cousin's and other's; > I have the following who were said to have been in Monroe Co Mo from abt 1837 to 1851 when they left for Grayson Co Tx. in thier 1889 book but someone may have put it in Bio, wrong. > BUT, I went to the BLM Records and find they were in MORGAN CO. I do not know if this is the same family, as the man who gave me the information gave me the "bare Bones" so to speak, and is himself dead. However, James Barnett, child of James P. Barnett and Elizabeth McKinley, was born around Allamance County NC in 1786. His childe, Riley Barnett, was born in KY, lived in MO, and died in Indiana. William Newton Barnett, The child of Riley Barnett was born in Hickory County, MO and also died in Indiana. The child of William Newton was Silas Edward Barnett, and was my husband's grandfather. All William Newton's children are dead. The family cemetery in Indiana has their graves (the WMB children for sure, includes others too). Please note - this family contains two Silas Edward Barnett's, born about the same time, one in KY, one in IN. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON!! They are cousins but I misremember to what degree. Jesse Barnett of Evansville IN has the information on the KY Silas Edward Barnett. The descendants of Silas still live in southern Indiana (for the most part). Hi everyone. I am still perplexed by my Monroe C. Barnett b. May 17, 1854 in MS (according to 1900 census records.) 1900 Ouachita Township, Montgomery County Arkansas shows Monroe Barnett, Martha A, Hattie M. and Charlie Barnett. Monroe was first married to a Susan A. ? and then married a Martha A. Sims on Oct 29, 1898 in Montgomery County, Arkansas. If anyone can shed some light on this Barnett family I would very much appreciate the information. Thanks, Shirley Z. -----Original Message----- From: BARNETT-D-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:BARNETT-D-request@rootsweb.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 10:00 AM To: BARNETT-D@rootsweb.com Subject: BARNETT-D Digest V03 #69
