My GGGfather was James H. Barnes b.ca 1822 in Tn according to the 1860 census and lived in Mud Camp Creek, Cumberland Co., Ky, m. Mary ? and the children were W.J.- 1842,Thomas Newton-1844, Nancy Obedediance (Beadie)-1845, George W.-1849, John N. 1852. James died in 1872 and My GGF Thomas N. (m. Mary Jane Hollingsworth) and the family moved to Tompkinsville, Monroe Co., Ky ca 1900. Thomas N.'s children were Perlina-1870, James A-1872, William-1873, Melvin-1876, Joseph-1878, Nancy-1885, Thomas-1889. My GF James d.1909 and he and brothers Thomas and Melvin are buried in Mt. Herman's cemetery just outside of Tompkinsville. James A.'s children were Dewey-1902m Alma-1905, Ray-1907, James W.-1909 (my father who was born about 3 weeks after his Father, James A., died from an accident) Does any one even think there may be a connection? I am in the Barnes DNA project and a proven descendant/link to the James Barnes/Keturah Shipley family but missing the family connections between James H.1822 and them.
