    1. [BARNES] William H Barnes & family Tennessee
    2. Hello, I'm searching for the parents (as well other info) of William H Barnes born circa 1840-1844 in either AL or TN. I believe I have first found him in the 1870 Perry County, TN census as William Burns. He shows with wife Lela/Cela (b ca 1845-1847) and daughter Virginia b ca 1864. I find him as William H Barnes in 1880 Hardin County, TN. Wife is listed as Selour. Children are Virginia b 1864 MS, Ada and Ida b ca 1876 AL and Jones H Barnes b 1879 TN. His wife is actually Selia/Celia/Cecilia (Tignor). Known children were Virgina A, Ida, Ada, Jones "Homer" and Pue Cannon Barnes. I believe William died somewhere between 1885 and 1896. Most likely in Hardin or McNairy County Tn. Daughter Ida married Winfield Springer in 1894 McNairy County, TN. Winfield dies and next I find Ida in Dyer County marrying D.A. Jones in 1898. They have Reeder Lovada Jones. D.A. passes away and marries neighbor DeWitt Allen Barrett in 1902 Dyer Co TN. Dee and Ida move back and forth from Dyer to Gibson and back again. They have John Quincy Adams "Butler" Barrett, Celia/Cecilia Lucille Barrett, Nathaniel Monroe Barrett, Sarah Alice Barrett, Lola Vandora Barrett & a daughter who died young Janie/Jeanie Barrett. Daughter Ada marries William Robert Sanders. They have Lula, Brown Lee and Henry. William passes away and Ada marries Robert Lee Harris. They have James Edna Harris. The family resided in Gibson County, TN Son Jones "Homer" Barnes marries Allice Sanders in Dyer Co TN. They have Jermie. Allice dies and Homer marries Virgie (?) and has Evie Barnes. Virgie was married first to a Reeves and has two daughters from that marriage. Homer and family resided in Gibson Co, Tn. Son Pue Cannon Barnes marries Mollie S (?). They have Viola, William, Mamie, Lynn and Olvia or Annie. The family resided in Gibson Co Tn. In 1910 Selia is living with son Pue and says she had 9 children, 5 of which are still alive. The 5th one may be Virginia. I know nothing else of Virginia after the 1880 census. Lastly, this family has Native american ancestors in either the Barnes line or inSelia's line. Any help is greatly appreciated! Tara R Barrett
