    3. I am jumping in with my BARNES brothers from NY. Hoping to find more information from anyone with knowledge of a Barnes family who left NY State probably after 1836 going possibly to the upper midwest, MI or MN area. Looking for information on the following. This Alanson is not the one listed on the 1850 Lewis Co NY cesus. They may be connected, but the dates are not right for this to be my Alanson, or his father. Edwin W. Barnes, born NY state Nov 1834, my great uncle. Alanson W. Barnes, born NY state May 1836, my great grandfather I have no idea where in NY State they were born. Nor do I know the names of their parents. Records for Alanson state that parents were both born in NY State. The earliest record I have for my great grandfather was Oct 1867 when Alanson W. marries Harriett Briggs (Moore?) born PA abt 1840. They married in Steele Co MN. They later remove to an unknown county in MO. Their first 4 children were born in MO, About 1875 they leave MO and return to Steele Co MN. They are found there on the 1880 Berlin Twp, Steele Co MN census as farmers, (misspelled BARNS. Four more children are born to Alanson and Harriett while they are in MN. Edwin is enumerated while living with them. This is the first and only proof I have of my great uncle. By 1885 the family has returned to MO and settled in Oregon Co. Soon after they own a farm in Douglas Co MO. They later return to Oregon when a son assumes the farm duties. Alanson and Harriett are buried at Redburn cemetery in Oregon Co MO. Any information would be most appreciated. It is "possible" they may be descended from Thomas Barnes of CT. More information would certainly help narrow that down. Rig! ht now I up against a very strong brick wall. Thank you. Gena Gates Lally
