My husband's grandfather was William Oliver Barnes. It is believed that he came to the Wood/Wirt County area during the Oil & Gas Boom. His father is listed as James Barnes and his mother is listed as Lavernie Webb, dau. of Forg Webb. Lavernie's siblings are listed asa Robert, Steve, Alice, Jennie, Sophronie, Nettie & Blanche. This info was found in the family Bible, unfortunately without any dates. My husband is 65 yrs. old; his father, Fred O. Barnes, would have been 90 yrs. old if living.
