BARNES FAMILY - VERMONT We received an inquiry regarding Moses Barnes of VT who had a child David Barnes. Will send the answer to the list in case someone else is searching a Barnes family in VT. Statement - We found a Moses Barnes in Brandon, Rutland Co. in the 1790 Census.  Response - There was a Moses Barnes, Jr. born 10 Jul 1792 in Brandon, Rutland, VT.  He was the son of Olive Simonds and Moses Barnes, Sr.  Moses Barnes, Jr. married Luna Tenney 4 Dec 1816 in Sudbury, VT. The father Moses Barnes, Sr. was born 15 Nov 1760 in Middletown, Middlesex, CT and died 12 Dec 1825 in Brandon, Rutland, VT.  Moses Barnes, Sr. was the son of Hannah Stowe and Capt. Joseph Barnes. Reply - We don't have any further information on Moses, born 1744 - No children listed, etc. ======================================================== Don't see a VT connection here, but who knows?  There was a David Barnes, born 1814, place unknown who married Abigail Hale in 1834, place unknown.  David was the son of Mary Dedman and Moses Barnes, Jr., [born 5 July 1774 in Woodbury, Litchfield, CT and died 1816, place unknown].  Moses Barnes, Jr. was the son of Phebe Blakeslee and Moses Barnes, Sr. (Moses Barnes, born abt 1740 also had a son David Barnes, born 30 Nov 1769 in Woodbury, Litchfield, CT.) Moses Barnes, Sr. was born about 1740 in North Haven, New Haven, CT and died in 1785, place unknown.  Moses Barnes, Sr. was the son of Experience and Benjamin Joseph Barnes. Mary Barnes, (Mary was daughter of Moses Barnes and Hannah Olds) Joshua son of                     Thomas Barnes (1732-1761-MA) and Elizabeth Dodge. =========================================================== There is another Moses Barnes that we don't have in our computer but it is in the Moran Microfilm 0824395.  Moses Barnes of Greenwich, Fairfield, CT, born 1751 and died 18 Oct 1827 in Bridgewater, VT.  The microfilm does not state who the father of Moses is.  Moses Barnes had Hamilton Barnes [27 May 1773 - 29 March 1865] who married (1) Sally Mendall in 1799 and (2) Mrs. Abigail Clement Cox in 1835.  Hamilton Barnes and Sally Mendall had children: Cynthia, John Mendall, Moses Hamilton, Milo Weeks, Erastus Otis, Lorenzo Dow, Parasada R. and Arminda Ann. Moses Hamilton Barnes was born 2 May 1804 in Bridgewater, VT and died 15 July 1874 in Stockbridge, VT.  Moses Hamilton Barnes and Ann S.
