Longmont FYI Longmont, Colorado 01-19-04 Betty I. Barnes of Bullhead City, Ariz., formerly of Longmont, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in Arizona. She was 71. Mrs. Barnes was born May 4, 1932, in Englewood to Robert and Agnes (Gade) Tipton. On April 4, 1953, she married Howard E. Barnes in San Diego. Mrs. Barnes moved from Denver to Longmont in 1964 and then to Arizona seven years ago to retire. She was a homemaker and longtime employee of the Daily Times-Call. Mrs. Barnes attended Messiah Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, gardening and classical movies and music. She also liked pictures, making scrapbooks, reading and working on her computer. She is survived by her husband of Bullhead City; two sons, Larry Barnes and his wife Neva of Loveland and Brian Barnes of Longmont; two daughters, Ellen Watson of Tucson, Ariz., and Donna Hummel and her husband Gordon of Loveland; a brother, Robert Tipton; a sister, Geraldine Mead; eight grandchildren, Autumn, Christopher, Jennifer, Dana, Brad, Haley, Jearime and Shawn; and a great-grandson, Dylan. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1335 Francis St., Longmont, with the Rev. Kent Schnegelberger officiating.
