Hello everyone, Does anyone on the list have connections with the BARNES family, the founders of Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio? Does anyone have information regarding...James, David, Zachariah, William, Moses, Arthur, Thomas, Elijah, Isaac BARNES of this Barnes line? The time period would be early 1800's. Hi I hesitate to chime in, nmany others may well know more than I do. My prime source is the 'Barnes Gnealogies" by George N. Barners of Conneaut, Ohio copywright 1903 Many of the families he covers lived in various Ohio communities, I am not a student of Ohio geography, I'm not sure where Conneaut, Ashstabula, or Scio Ohio are located. Others were in Erie. Pa, Many passed thru from Connecticut to New York, Ohio and on west to Oregon etc. I can give a digest of the genealogy of my direct line, who went elsewhee, and some of the people included in the above travels, but I have no where near the details he gives in the book. You may know that there were several original colonial Barnes families. This book covers mainly the Thomas of Hartford, Ct line. George mentions a few of the Thomas of New Haven desendants, who also lived in Ohio. Your names could fit in either family, and probably are partly in both, or even additional lines. I know Fred Barnes of California has a recently published genealogy on the Hartford group, and I think he used George's material in part. If you want to check my known family I can send genealogy reports by e=mail attachments.
