In a transcribed copy of the Old U.E.L. List I found +Barnes, Godlup & Thomas.... They are the only Barnes listed. Can anyone tell me if a listing such as this (two given names on the same line) had any significance? Would Thomas and Godlup have been relatives? Or is that not a safe assumption? If this U.E.L. List is all-inclusive, then I think I know where Thomas Barnes went and have census and land records for him. I have never heard of Godlup Barnes, however. Can anyone suggest how I might learn more about either of these two men? Thomas Barns/Barnes b. about 1760, as well as a Gilbert Barnes and a David Barnes (each born sometime later than Thomas) are all found in Haldimand Twp., Northumberland County, Ontario census data in the early 1800s. In 1821, John Barnes Sr. and John Barnes Jr. are each heads of households in Haldimand Twp. They only appear in that one census. My other Loyalist ancestors (ANDRUS, LOSEE, POMEROY) were also settlers in Haldimand Twp. at about that same time. I am a Barnes descendant through Amarilla Barnes b. 1849 in Haldimand Twp., daughter of John Barnes/Barns b. 1822. I can not figure out who the father of John Barnes was. Thanks for any help any of you can give me. Judy(Andrus)Penski
