I am seeking any information regarding Samuel R. Barnes who was born in Nelson County, KY in the early 1800's. He was likely married to Nancy Foushee, Mary Kendall or Sally Norris in Nelson County. Unfortunately, the Samuels listed in these marriage records did not use middle names. I suspect in other cases he chose to use his middle initial to distinguish himself from the other Samuel Barneses in the area. Samuel's parents were Elijah Barnes and Rachel Willcocks who settled in Nelson County and were married there in 1798. Samuel R. Barnes died in MS in May 1839 and left a son Edwin F. Barnes. An Edwin F. Barnes married Nancy Norris in Nelson County, KY in Oct. 1845. I believe this is likely the Edwin I'm looking for. In the 1860 Census, Nelson Co., Dist. 2, New Haven, I find Edwin F. Barnes, age 33, farmer, wife Nancy, age 31, children; Sarah Ann, 12, Gilford Dudley, age 11, Lane Thomas, age 8, Nancy Ellen, Edwin, and Mary Elizabeth.
