Anyone with knowledge of this family, please contact me direct. Thanks! Barnes family lived on farm outside Cass City, Michigan, time-frame about 1865. Victor was fifth child. Mother died when he was born, or shortly thereafter. Father Henry Thomas/Thomas Henry had four additional small boys to care for plus the farm so he gave Baby Victor to the neighbors to care for temporarily. Subsequently they moved to Wisconsin and the Barnes family lost track of their little brother. Years later, grown John Barnes (brother of Victor) was traveling by train to Wisconsin to buy some lumber, started talking to the man next to him on the train, and told him about this sad event. Wonder of wonders, the man knew the family in Wisconsin that had taken Victor so many years before. He gave John their address (or took him to their home, I'm not sure which) and the family was reunited with their brother at last. --As told to me by 91-year-old niece of Victor, 6/2004. Dawn
