James H. Barnes first appears on 1860 census in Burksville, Cumberland Co., KY actually living in Mud camp Creek and is listed as born in Tennessee. James dies in 1872 and the family reappears in the 1900 census in Tompkinsville, Monroe Co., Ky with GGFather Thomas Newton as HOH. My GF is James Barnes and by 1910 census my GMother is Perlina "Lina" (Brown) Barnes (GF dies in Nov. 1909) is living with Father James Milton Brown shown as HOH in Tompkinsville. Through DNA tests by FamilyTree I am identified as being of the James Barnes/Keturah Shipley from Frederick County, Maryland ca 1700. I am trying to find the missing generations that link me to this family. Family lore says the Barnes family came from Vitginia to KY to TN back to KY.
Bill, I hope I don't get in trouble for this and I have nothing to do with this CD, but the Family tree maker's "Family Archives" CD # 184 Colonial Families of Maryland, 1600--1900's has the ancestry of James Barnes and Keturah Shipley on it and tells who and when they migrated to Indiana and Kentucky, Ohio. I didn't send you a private message because I thought others might want to know. Again I have nothing at all to do with this cd, nor do I stand to gain a thing. If I am wrong in telling this information, please let me know and it won't happen again. Lorene At 11:36 AM 6/4/2005 -0500, Bill wrote: >James H.
