    1. [BARNES] Barnes, Bates & Hood families, Lunenburg County, Virginia, 1800s
    2. Juli Morgan
    3. I'm looking for information about a Pleasant Barnes who appears in the will of William Hood, Jr., written in 1821 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. Pleasant Barnes was named as one of William Hood, Jr.'s executors. Then in 1823 he is named as "guardian and next friend" of several of William Hood, Jr.'s grandchildren, the children of David & Susannah Hood Bates, in a lawsuit. One of those children was named Pleasant. Also a Pleasant Barnes is listed as the person who performed marriages for a number of Bates children. I am wondering if Pleasant Barnes might have been the brother of William Jr.'s wife, Martha. Does anyone have any info about this man? Thanks, Juli

    1. [BARNES] Lula T. Barnes
    2. Hello Listers - Sometime back a very kind person sent me census information on Lula T. Barns and her family, but dumy here misplaced it. I was wondering if that kind person could resend, or anyone having any information on her and her family prior to her marriage in 1895. Lula T. Barnes was born in GA abt 1867, and she and family moved to Clay Co. MS where she married (as second wife) John Samuel Barnes in 1895. I don't know anything about her life prior to 1895, but if anyone is interested I have quite a bit of information on her life after that period of time, including pictures and am very willing to share with anyone who is interested. 2. Linda K
    3. Am looking for any information on Robert Marion Barnes. He was born in Benton, Illinois in 1876 and married Ella Gertrude Walls Wells in 1902. I think I found him on the Essex Funeral Home list in Arkansas Co., Ark. He was my grandfather and I have a picture of him with his mother, but I have no idea what her name was. I recently found a picture of her g grandfather in my mother's pictures. His name was Samuel Mosley, but I can't fit him in until I find the name of my g grandmother and go from there unless someone has already found this info. Thanks, Linda

    1. [BARNES] Season's Greetings from list manager
    2. Jen's Gen
    3. Hello everyone. It appears that list traffic has slowed down a bit and I expect that its due to seasonal activities, and spending time with families, and that is fine. I would like to remind you now, that many folks will be getting new computers, etc. for presents during this season and will be making their way to the lists to begin their research. Please be patient and helpful when necessary so they will be encouraged to continue their research, instead of being discouraged by their mistakes. Remember that as list manager, I will take care of those who do not understand the guidelines privately, and only genealogy posts are allowed on the list. Please just ignore all off-topic posts unless they are sent by the me as list manager ....in which case the post will be important enough to read. I would also like to ask you at this time to begin preparing your notes and data to be shared after this next week. I will came back from the holidays and ask you to post your info and let others on the list know what you would like to accomplish in your research this next year. Have a safe and wonderful season to all of you on all my lists! Jennifer Sherwood Braswell List manager

    1. [BARNES] Re: BARNES-
    2. I might suggest you look at the 1850 Census Index for NY. There are probably a lot of BARNES, so work through them. Keep working through them till you find a child about 18'ish. Also keep your eye open for an Edwin Barnes, he could be out on his own and you might find him immediately. The next step, if you find him, is to see if there is a NY State Census for 1855. Edwin might still be in the same place, and there is a question on that census: 'if born in NY, what county." With this information you could them go back to 1850 and see what BARNES families were living there. Going back to 1840 would then be the next step back. Check your local library, to see if they have Ancestry PLUS on their computers. If so, you will have access to most census records online. Good luck
