Go to the following address to order the DNA kit. http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=C37458&special=True We currently have 32 members in our project, though about 5 have not sent their kits back in. Don't click on the pricing at the top, those are for non-members, but instead, go to the bottom of the page and use the drop down box, and choose either 12, 25, or 37 marker kit. The 12 marker kit will tell you which if any line you fit into .. or if you are a complete new line of Barlow's ... and then you can later upgrade to the 25 or 37 marker, the prices will be a bit discounted, and if you match on 12 markers to another family, the upgrade will tell you if you are closely related to them, or if your family branches off into a sub-group. It won't tell you how you are related, but will help to know the direction your research should take. It is really quite interesting, but there is so much scientific language in it, I don't understand a lot of it myself. I can only compare the numbers. If you look at http://www.barlowgenealogy.com/Options/BARLOWDNAPROJECT.htm And go to the bottom of the page, you will see a chart made by one of our project members that shows how our Fairfield families relate...or at least where we began and how our families branch off. Do you currently know which branch of Barlow's you fit into? Have you any genealogy for your family? Where can I get a DNA test kit? I was wanting one to give to either my brother or uncle. So maybe our line of Barlow's could be tested. How much will it cost.
