    3. It looks as if both of Martha's parents were married multiple times. Samuel Barlow married 3 times, all in Pulaski County, according to the IGI: m1) Martha Osburn, 27 Jun 1867, m2) Nancy Osborn, 4 Dec 1881, and m3) Ellen Woodall 24 Nov 1898. m1) ended with Martha's death, and m3) ended in divorce. Can't say on m2), but she was the mother of Mitchell, so was still alive in Apr 1884. All census data is from Pulaski County. The Barlow family seems to have been there a long time. 1860: District 1: John Barlow 84 farmer --- 50 VA, Susan 87 PA, Samuel 15 KY. John and Susan seem to be Samuel's grandparents. I don't find Samuel in 1850, but I do find John and Susan: 1850: Division 2: John Barlow 77 farmer 200 VA, Susannah 77 PA, Mary 38 KY 1870: Price district: Barton? Barlow? Bartow? (hard to read!) Samuel 25 farmer 250 400 KY, Martha 22 keeping house VA, Mary S 2 KY 1880: District 93: Barlow Samuel 35 widowed farmer KY KY KY, Marthy D 12 dau at home, Amanda E 10 dau at home, Ophelda 5 dau, Mary 68 mother-in-law keeping house VA VA VA 1900: Glades voting precinct: Barlow Samuel head Feb 1844 KY KY KY farmer, Ellen M wife Aug 1865 married 1 year 2 children 2 living KY NC KY, Mitchel L son Feb 1884 KY KY VA, Hamon Mary T step dau Nov 1886 KY KY KY, Woodall Lillie M stepdau Nov 1891. The first initial of Hamon might not be an H. But it looks as if Ellen is on her third husband at this point, as she has 2 children 2 living, who look to be Mary and Lillie. 1910: Barnett precinct: Barlow Samuel head 66 2nd marriage 1st marriage at 19 KY KY KY farmer general farm, Ellen M wife 44 2nd marriage 1st marriage at 18 KY VA KY, Martha D dau 9 KY KY KY, Earl O son 6 KY KY KY Samuel and Ellen admit to only 2 marriages apiece, although it seems to have been 3 for each. By 1920, they are divorced, and living in separate households in Good Hope precinct. Ellen has taken back her 2nd married name, it seems. Barlow Michell L head 34 KY KY KY salesman dry goods store, Samuel father 75 divorced KY KY KY Woodall Ellen head 54 divorced KY KY KY farmer general farm, Barlow Earl son 16 laborer home farm Can't find Martha in 1920. Can't find Samuel or Ellen in 1930 (from what you have said I'm assuming they had died by then). 3. Thank you so much Anne, I have sent your information on to Betty. I had found them in the 1860 and 1880 census, but had not followed up. Had also found all 3 marriages in the Barlow database. You did wonderful, thanks for putting the time into it. I am thinking that perhaps Job Barlow was his father, or perhaps the Mary in the household with John and Susannah was his mother. Betty would like to find the parents of Sam. I couldn't find them in 1850 either, which would help. Seeing the family comes from Virginia, perhaps that is where we need to look, however, his birth between 1843-1845, shows to be in Kentucky in all census. Susan
