I found this obit for John Newton Barlow yesterday. There was a much longer one in the Harveyville, Monitor, which I posted some time ago: from the Eskridge, Kansas, Tribune-Star, Nov.21, 1912, page 1: John Newton Barlow died at Stormont hospital at Topeka, Kansas, November 10, 1912. He had been operated on at the hospital for strangulated hernia and gradually grew weaker until his death. Mr. Barlow was 72 years and 10 months of age. Mr. Barlow was one of the pioneers of Kansas and had been a resident of Harveyville for forty-five years. He was honest and upright, a good neighbor and a faithful friend and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
