Barlow, USAF was born August 16, 1922 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Frank and Leona Ida Fasbender Barlow. Lt. Col. Donald L. Barlow, USAF (Ret.), 81 of Cuero passed away on June 21, 2004. He was born August 16, 1922 in Lansing, MI to the late Frank and Leona Ida Fasbender Barlow. Col. Barlow served 24 years i the U. S. Air Force. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force commendation Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Two Bronze Oak Lead Cluster, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. As a pilot he flew the PT-17, BT-13, AT-17, B-26 Martin, A-26, B-26 Douglas, B-25, P-61, F-84, T-33, T-28, F-86, B-47 and B-52F, an eight engine jet bomber and the last plane he flew. He was a Life Member of the Military Officers' Association of America, the Mach Busters Club, a Third Degree Knight of Columbus #1682, Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Yoakum Assembly #1128, AARP, TurkeyFest Association, and T.P.A. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, and St. Michael's Catholic Church Council. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. After retiring, he worked with Timco Industries in Cuero as an engineer. He is survived by his wife, Pat Hickey Barlow of Cuero; a daughter, Nancy Marie Stratton of Austin; sons, Robert M. Barlow of Surfside, Stephen F. Barlow and Bill Ray Hickey II, both of Cuero; a sister; Bernice Muller of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol Ann Yoder Barlow; and a brother, Robert Frank Barlow. Visitation will be Thursday, June 24, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 in the Chapel. Funeral mass will be Friday, June 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Johnson Owusu-Boateng officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with full military honors and under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, (361) 275-2343. Pallbearers will be Fasset Hickey, Fielding Hickey, Jerry Pyles, Henry Sheppard Jr., Santos Calderon Jr., and Stephen Post. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
