    3. My gggrandmother is Matilda Ann Bush; Her Father: Ambrose Barlow BUSH (b. 31 Dec. 1811, died in Monroe Co., KY) Her Mother: either Elizabeth or "Eliza" or Jane Barlow (b. about 1815). I have been told by an older member of my family (my grandfather's cousin) that Ambrose Barlow and Jane were 1st cousins (the name kind of gives it away!) But I don't know anything about Jane's parents. If they were 1st cousins, that means they share a grandfather or grandmother, but because of the name, in all likelihood would be Ambrose Barlow Bush's mother's (Elizabeth Jane Barlow--how weird is that?) father: Ambrose Barlow, b. July 1766 in Culpepper, VA. But the only son of Ambrose Barlow who could POSSIBLY be Jane's father (and Ambrose Barlow Bush's uncle) would be James Barlow, b. 1790-1794. The rest of the sons would be way too young. I cannot find any information on this James Barlow. Can ANYONE help me out here? Another very scary possibility: The Monroe Co. census lists an Ambrose Barlow living in a household where there's a man 60-70 years old (which would be the right age for the Culpepper Ambrose). It also lists a female between the age of 15 to 20 (which would be my Jane Barlow's age). Could my Ambrose Barlow Bush have married his aunt???? Or, a better solution may be she was living with her grandparents. Any light shed on this would help me sleep better at night! ;-) By the way, my Matilda Ann Bush married Jacob Nelson Dial in Monroe County in 1868. I don't know much of his family, either, past his parents. Matilda and Jacob left Fountain Run and moved to Lincoln, Illinois in the early 1910s. 3. Hi Diana, Well, you do have a good mystery there. I searched through a bunch of material I have and found: Jane Barlow, first wife of Ambrose Barlow Bush, was born June 19, 1817 died Jan. 16, 1875, buried near Austin, Ky. Second wife (marriage of Dec. 28, 1876) of Ambrose Barlow Bush was Mary Elizabeth HARLOW, born March 10, 1839; died March 18, 1914. Mary Elizabeth Harlow was the daughter of William Frank and Anna Harlow of Hiseville, Ky. James (the son of Ambrose Barlow and Anna Smith) married Dosha Cochran, Feb. 10, 1814. Doesn't appear their line has been submitted anywhere. I have read somewhere that a James Barlow of Kentucky had moved to the South, Alabama or Mississippi or Louisiana ... but I don't know if it was THIS James. Ambrose Barlow (the Culpeper one) had been a pioneer in Barren County, but he later did move to Monroe County, dying there on Aug. 13, 1839. His wife was his first cousin. I have a couple of other places to look when I can, but am not very hopeful that any more will turn up. By the way, Ambrose Barlow of Culpeper was an older brother of my g-g- g-g grandfather, Enoch, who was a pioneer in Washington Township, Hendricks County, Indiana, (near Avon) just to the west of Indianapolis. I grew up in Plainfield.
