    3. I received the following e-mail from DNA today in case any of you are interested. Could help get more folks testing. You would have to email Max to find out if you could specify a particular family to donate funds to. As for the mtDNA thing..I know there is a free database for that. I don't think I would pay for that test. But those of you who have tested might check in the new database for matches. From: max@familytreedna.com [mailto:max@familytreedna.com] Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 1:18 PM To: sbarlowholmes@classicnet.net Subject: News from Family Tree DNA To Barlow group manager, Several Surname Projects have different sources of funding to help pay for some of their members' tests. In that regard, many times we have received requests from Group administrators to set up a Fund for their projects. The new link in your GAP - General Fund - is an area that will keep track of incoming funds, the balance in the account and to which kits the funds were applied. Family Tree DNA will enter the information for tracking purposes as soon as funds are received or disbursed. Funds can be sent by check, credit card or Paypal (in which case it needs to be sent to info@familytreedna.com), and identified as "For the XYZ Project General Fund". We would also like to bring to your attention that we have launched www.Mitosearch.org, the first worldwide mtDNA public database, and in conjuction with the launch of Mitosearch we are offering - during the month of October - mtDNA tests and its bundles at reduced prices. More information about it can be found at http://www.ftdna.com/mtDNA_promo.asp. As always, thank you for your continued support. E-mail me any time!
