    3. Susan: I am distantly related to John of Fairfield. Would there be any benefit to me or the group if I was part of the test. I come in through Abigail Barlow, who married Samuel Denton. After that the family names were: Martha Denton m. Jona Halstead Abigail Halstead, Vandervoort, Fridley and Hatch. I am many generations off and other names in between. Thanks for all the information you have supplied over the years. I guess I am part of the silent majority who share the John Barlow family history, but quite distantly. 3. Today we received new results for a 12 marker DNA test, the person who was tested was from the Bunches of Barlow's clan, a brother of Roe Barlow....and the test is an exact match to the John Barlow of Fairfield Ct, which is what I had long suspected. She is going to upgrade now to the 25 marker test to narrow down the generations some. I wish all of you luck. Seems like John of Fairfield may have been one of the largest clans yet known. Apparently at least one of the Mormon clans come from that same group, as my family matched within 1 marker of John of Fairfield on the 25 marker test, and was an exact match on, I believe Israel Barlow on another DNA database. Hope to be back to the Clearinghouse soon. Don't worry, I will return. Need to learn soon new computer / software skills to continue the web work so that it will not become obsolete. Love, Susan

    2. Lee Cognetta
    3. Dear Everyone: I'm forwarding this information which was sent to the Manchester & Lancashire FHS Mailing List by Ron Hurdus. It might be of interest to those researching Barlow in Lancashire, England. This is taken from "A History of Leigh" by John Lunn, Edited by Peter Riley, Published in 1993. Page 74: 'One of the early spinning mills in Leigh was in Nel Pan Lane; by 1812 Barlow's Factory was a topographical fixture. Moses Roper lived near to it. There is a saying that a vicar of Leigh John Barlow erected it for his son. By 1825 the mill was under the directive control of Ormrod, Hardcastle and Vickers. Later it was bought by James and John Hayes and misfortuned to be burned out in 1855. These two brothers then launched the Victoria Mills. Old Barlow's factory was candle lit in winter and insured in 1846 for 3,450. Its corporate name in this year was Thorpe and Hayes. Other machinery was put in by Constantine: the mill was raveaged by fire for the third time in 1864.' Would it be possible to provide a chart something like the Overstreet one, so that we can see what the participants think is their line? It's at http://www.overstreetdna.com/Y-DNA%20COMPARISONS.htm Thanks for all of your hard work on this project. Trying to help the children buy and renovate a house and get my yard in order for the summer. New DNA results received shows that Alfred Hirton Barlow family is a part of the Isle of Wight Virginia Barlows. Leona...we are getting you more kinfolk, but still no mother. Perhaps this will help. Congratulations Alfred Hirton Barlow family for your new found roots. If someone could contact Vicki Brady...I have no address for her...she will probably be happy to have this news also.
