I have been working in Minnesota Barlow section of the website, am amazed at the number of Barlow's and the variations on the surname found there. We have Barlow, Barlau, Berglof (Swedish), Barlo, Barloe, Barley, and Barlew. From Sweden, Norway, Germany, Canada, and Ireland. There are 69 families of various spellings in 1900. Check it out for your family at: http://www.barlowgenealogy.com/Minnesota/index.html Lots of new census images there also. Almost all of 1860 and 70. If anyone has transcriptions, images, etc. I'd be happy to add them. Check other states to see if we have indexes, particularly 1850 and 1880, and if we don't, I'd sure be happy if you'd send them to me for posting. Eventually I'll get all of the images added. Or family genealogies. Any of you feel like looking up, scanning and sending more for other states, any year, or doing transcriptions, I'd be most grateful.. I'll for sure give you credit. It appears John F. has left us, and I could use any help in gathering information that yall could give. Share your families, photos, etc. Trivial stuff, family stories, etc. Juicy bits of lore are always fun. Dear Liz and STINSON, CHEEK, MYRICK, GRANTHAM, HERRINGTON, HARRINGTON, BROOKER, and BARLOW lists, Hi, just saw your email with the will of Jane CHEEK TYSON which I thought that I had seen before but may not have and, yes, I see the STINSON marriage for the Sarah STINSON, daughter of Jane C. CHEEK and Cornelius TYSON. Thank you. Bear with me, if you can through, yet, another lengthy connecting bio which may connect some more dots..... And I do have in my files, that this Sarah CHEEK, born: December 04, 1757 in North Carolina, died: Abt. 1826 in Chatham County, North Carolina, married John STINSON, Sr., born: Abt. 1760 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, died: Abt. 1826 prob. in Chatham County, North Carolina, who was the son of Rebecca ? and Aaron STINSON, born: Abt. 1730 in ?. And Jane C. CHEEK, born: Bet. September 22-27, 1722 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, died: March 22, 1797 in Moore County, North Carolina, md: January 03, 1743/44 in North Carolina, who was the daughter of Jane RANDOLPH and Richard CHEEK, Sr., son of John CHEEKE, Sr. of Essex County, England. The CHEEK family was in Spotsylvania County, Virginia at the same time that my James GRAVES, Sr., (RS,) family was. James GRAVES married Mary COPELAND, (d/o Stephen,) and they were the parents of my William W. GRAVES who was born in Abt. 1775 in Lincoln County, Georgia, and he married Nancy ?/LOTT?/MIDDLETON?, and they were the parents of Catherine GRAVES who married ?/David? DICKENS/DICKINS, who were the parents of Rebecca Jane "Jane" DICKENS/DICKINS, (aka DICKSON/DICKERSON,) who married Isham/Isom Daniel HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON, (s/o Enoch HERRINGTON and Harriet STUCKEY,) (Isham later married 2nd wife,) Mrs. Sarah E. COLEMAN,) and Rebecca and Isham were parents of my great grandmother, Harriet Katherine "Hattie" HERRINGTON who married Calvin Pierce "Callie" MYRICK, son of Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON and William H. "Billy" MYRICK, brother of the Jeremiah Pinckney "Pink" MYRICK who married Mildred "Millie" STINSON, (d/o Elizabeth ?/STINSON,) who were the sons of Elizabeth "Bettie?" PIERCE and William MYRICK, son of Mary BROOKER and James MYRICK, (of 1700s-early 1800s Orangeburgh District, Winton Co., Barnwell Co., Allendale, South Carolina,) and Mary BROOKER had a sister, Sarah BROOKER, who married ? STINSON. Does anyone know the first name of this ? STINSON who married Sarah BROOKER? And, if so, do you know how he, most likely, connects to the STINSON family that married into the CHEEK family that also married into the MYRICK and THORPE family group originally out of Isle of Wight/Surry/Brunswick Counties in Virginia. John STINSON, Sr. and Sarah CHEEK were the parents of Archibald "Archy" STINSON, born: Abt. 1780 in North Carolina, poss. Cumberland County or Chatham County, but I don't show any other childen for Sarah CHEEK and John STINSON, Sr. nor do I show names for a wife nor children for their son, Archibald "Arch" STINSON. Does anyone know anything of any of these....also? The aforementioned Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON being the daughter of William HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON, Jr., son of William HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON, Sr., (aka HERENTINE/etc.,) who was born Bef. 1755 in Craven County, NC which became New Hanover County, NC and then he was later living in Orangeburgh District/Barnwell County, SC area and then in Perry County, MS, and Wm. HERRINGTON, Jr.'s wife, Cynthia "Sina" GRANTHAM, sister of Richard "Lucky" GRANTHAM, Jr. who married Lydia Jane BARLOW and whose son, Mastin GRANTHAM, married wife # 1: El(l)(s)berry EVANS, wife # 2: Sarah Elizabeth MYRICK, daughter of Aquilla "Quilla" BENNETT and James MYRICK, brother of Jeremiah Pinckney MYRICK who married Mildred "Milly" STINSON, (sons of Elizabeth PIERCE and William MYRICK.) And El(l)sberry EVANS' sister, Rhoda EVANS, married William Willis "Willis" MYRICK, brother of Sarah Elizabeth, and child of Aquilla "Quilla" BENNETT and James MYRICK. Lydia Jane BARLOW, born: 1815 in Perry Co., MS, who married Richard "Lucky" GRANTHAM, Jr. was the daughter of Nancy HERRINGTON and William Bryant BARLOW. Is it possible that this Nancy HERRINGTON, born: Abt. 1801 in ?, died: Abt. 1870 prob. in Jones Co., MS, is the (unnamed) Daughter of Samuel S./Sylas? "Sy" HERRINGTON, born: 1780 in New Hanover Co., North Carolina, died: 1843 in Perry County, Mississippi who was the brother of 2 of my 3rd great grandfathers, William HERRINGTON, Jr. and Enoch HERRINGTON, as mentioned herein? Something that I, also, just noticed...I think for the first time, is a marriage for a woman named Martha GRANTHAM, born: 1825 in ?, (parents not known,) who married James TYSON, born: 1825 in ?, (parents of Cornelius James TYSON and James Hardy TYSON,) who was the son of Barbara HAYMAN/HAYMON and Cornelius TYSON, III, (son of Elizabeth WATSON and Cornelius TYSON, II/Jr., (son of Jane CHEEK and Cornelius TYSON, I/Sr., (s/o Sabra MASON and Thomas TYSON, Sr., (s/o Mary F. POTTS and Mathia TYSON, (aka TISON,) (s/o Susannikah TICE and John TYSON, Sr. and Susannikah TICE also married Robert THOMPSON. (Does anyone know if he is, also, connected to the THOMPSON family that married into the MYRICK family?) Wondering where, more than if, this Martha GRANTHAM, born: 1825, connects to the Edward GRANTHAM, I and II families, that I descend from through my Cynthia "Sina" GRANTHAM, born: Abt. 1800 in Robeson County, North Carolina, on the South Carolina border, who married William HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON, Jr., born: 1794 in New Hanover County, North Carolina, (formerly Craven County,) who were the parents of Phoebe Catherine HERRINGTON who married William H. "Billy" MYRICK, born: Abt. 1822 in AL/MS Territory/became Jones and Jasper County, MS area, who was the son of Elizabeth "Bettie?" PIERCE and William MYRICK, son of James MYRICK and Mary BROOKER. We have so many connections known already between so many of these families, way more than shown here, but there are still more being uncovered each day. If there is anything that you can add, please let me know, as well as if you find any errors, please let me know. Thank you. Can anyone help this lady with this branch of the family? I believe my line goes back to Christopher Barler (Parlur, Barlow) who came over in 1717 with wife Pauera (Barbara). Information about them is written in the book, "Second Germanna Colony of 1717," number six. This is published by the Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Virginia. It is believed that Rachel Barlow b ca 1754 who married Conrad Kinslow/Kincheloe comes from this line. Rachel and Conrad are my 5GGP. Do you know if there there is a connection? Hello Friends, I was on this mailing list some time ago, but I unsubscribed several months ago since I was unble to connect with anyone. Since then, I have learned new information which leads me to believe exactly where I fit in. For a variety of reasons I am quite certain that my Barlow is Joel/Joseph F. Barlow, the last child ( and one of only 3 sons that lived until adulthood), born in Cole Co., MO in March, 1839. I believe his father was Julius Milford C. Barlow and Mildred 'Molly' ( Millianne) Stone. Mildred Stones father was William Stone and her mother was Susannah Hobbs. They were from Nelson County, KY. It appears that a cousin of Mildred, a Hobbs also married a Barlow in the Henry Barlow tree, Henry was a brother to Julius. So it appears that the Hobbs and the Barlows intermarried somewhat. My Barlow left MO at the time of the Civil War, enlisted in the Confederate in TX and remained there until his death in 1903. Barlow is my direct line, my GGgrandfather. He married Mary M Viser and had one daughter Bertie B Barlow. I am interested in connecting with anyone that is familiar with any of this family. Julius comes from the Christopher Barlow line on the Vernon Barlow pages. Sue

For those of you interested, Max has sent more information on the DNA general fund .. a really good idea. Hope a few of you are taking interest. To Barlow group manager, (that would be me, Susan) Many of you have contacted me requesting more details about the Surname Project General Fund. Here it is: The General Fund was created as a tool to be administered by Family Tree DNA, so that it is not a burden to the Group Administrator: a) Family Tree DNA collects/disburses the money and keeps a log under the General Fund link in the GAP b) The Group Administrator tells FTDNA to which kit we should apply funds. c) We have created a self-explanatory page to be used by those who want to make a contribution to their family DNA project: www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html (You will also find a link to this page under the General Fund at your GAP). You are welcome to send the above link by e-mail to potential contributors, as well as publish it in your website. In addition to that, if you have a public web page for your project at Family Tree DNA, we are including in the setup page a box where you can choose to have that "General Fund" mentioned in the blue bar, on the left side of the page. -- Matching Gift from Family Tree DNA: in conjunction with the launch of the General Fund, Family Tree DNA will match dollar per dollar the contributions to Surname Projects during the month of October, up to a total of $200. There are 3 conditions for the use of FTDNA's matching dollars: a) no more than $25 that has come from FTDNA can be used per test, b) FTDNA matching gift can be used only for new kits, c) FTDNA contributions from the matching gift need to be used before the end of this year, as they will expire on 12/31/04, whether used or not. If all Surname Projects took advantage of this matching gift, Family Tree DNA will be committing a total of over $250,000 to new tests! Finally, a couple of reminders: a) We will stop accepting registrations for the conference after October 11. We already have over 160 participants! As always, we thank you for your continued support. Susan: I wrote to you several days ago asking if I could have permission to put your information on Richard W. Barlow on my upcoming family web site. Have not received an answer yet, so wondered if you received it. Secondly, I wonder if you still have not found Richard W. Barlow in the 1880 census? I just found a Richard Barlow per the info below, and I feel certain that it must be my Richard Barlow in Tyler, TX in 1880 in the household of Thomas and Lucy Collier as a boarder. Even though the age is not quite the same, he was not even sure of where he was born. Also, it is interesting that he was married.
