    2. Susan BARLOW Holmes
    3. Hi yall.just back from a week's bike rally in Paducah KY, where my husband surprised me by not telling me we would be going through Barlow KY. The museum was closed, and nobody I talked too knew of any Barlow's left in the area, but I took some photos, and particularly in the Barlow Cemetery, which I will post later. Had loads of fun, and ready to get back to genealogy now. Susan Looking for Barlows, anywhere....anytime, including all variants and spellings of the name, Barlo, Barloe, Barlowe, Parlar, Barler, Barlar, Barlage, etc...

    1. Wilson Barlow
    2. Hello I have been researching Wilson Barlow for a time now. I have last found him on the 1910 Duval Florida Census, living with his daughter Clara Womble. Possibly died shortly after that. He was 75 then. I have looked at cemetery records in that area, but have found nothing. Does anyone know anything about him, or this family. Head of household is James W. Womble. Thanks so much, Judy

    1. John Newton Barlow obit, 1912, and KS 1915 census
    2. Cheryl White
    3. I found this obit for John Newton Barlow yesterday. There was a much longer one in the Harveyville, Monitor, which I posted some time ago: from the Eskridge, Kansas, Tribune-Star, Nov.21, 1912, page 1: John Newton Barlow died at Stormont hospital at Topeka, Kansas, November 10, 1912. He had been operated on at the hospital for strangulated hernia and gradually grew weaker until his death. Mr. Barlow was 72 years and 10 months of age. Mr. Barlow was one of the pioneers of Kansas and had been a resident of Harveyville for forty-five years. He was honest and upright, a good neighbor and a faithful friend and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Also: in the 1915 KS agricultural census: Wilmington Township, Wabaunsee County, Kansas #16 Barlow, J.A., 48, born, Indiana; moved to Kansas from Missouri Hattie M., 47, born Wisconsin, moved to KS from Iowa Marion A., 21 (male) born KS Ora W., 19, (male) " " Lena M., 17, (female) " " , teacher Edith A., 14 (female) " ", teacher James H., 2 (male) " " Alta Vista, (city), Wabaunsee County, KS #122 Barlow, R.M., 61, born in Canada, to Kansas from Canada, living alone Cheryl White in Kansas

    3. While reading newspapers in Wabaunsee County, KS, I found the following: from the Eskridge Home Weekly, May 20, 1888, page 2: Harveyville --- Married, on the 12th inst. by Judge Walton, Mr. Wm. Sudor and Miss Mattie Barlow. May you both live long and never grow less. There had been a previous reference to Mattie's sister, Rosa, so I looked for marriage records and found the following: January 8, 1884 Robert B. Hawkins, 36, and Rose Barlow, 20 married by Probate Judge John Keagy, at his residence May 12, 1886 W. M. Sutor, 25 (Last name very hard to read) Mattie Barlow, 19 married by John Walton, J.P. at Harveyville I could not find either of these families in the 1900 Kansas Soundex ----- or anyone who looked promising on Heritage Quest. They're not my direct line, but sometimes I obsess trying to connect families. A fellow researcher found Rosa and Mattie, along with their brother, Frank, who lived in Harveyville earlier, in Clinton, County, Ohio, with Israel Barlow, a widower. Many of the Harveyville settlers were Quakers, from the Clinton County area, including Barlows who married into the Fields , McPherson, and Harris families. Hope someone can use these tidbits! 3. G'day Ed, Thanks for taking the time to reply to my listing. Unfortunately I cannot nominate parish at this time. Firstly I am looking for the baptism of a Miriam Bowler c.1775 whose parents were said to be a John BOWLER and Elizabeth nee BARLOW and it is to this end I am researching. Secondly I am seeking a marriage between Elizabeth BARLOW to John BOWLER. I at this stage have no idea as to the date or the parish but it naturally has to be prior to 1775. Maybe not. Kind regards and thanks for replying. 3. Thanks for all of your responses. Yes, I realize that they are all on the Family Search Org...however, in order for me to locate the page numbers of the images, I have to open and look at each one of them. What I was hoping for is perhaps, the census index from Ancestry, they list the pages, then I could look them all up on Heritage when time allows...so that I can post original images, thus letting each person decide the names when they are all but illegible. And, instead of copying Family search, which is copyrighted, I transcribe my own from the image. Again, Thanks. In a book he published -- "Discovery of America by Northmen - Address at the Unveiling of the Statue of Lief Eriksen - Delivered in Faneuil Hall Oct. 29, 1887," Boston, Houghton Mifflin & Co., 1888 -- there is found at p. 54 a reproduction of a fascenating old map of New England and Acadia. Horsford attributes it as a reproduction of "a very precious original autograph map in the collection of Mr. S. L. M Barlow."
