    3. Not that I recall. I think the passport was just issued in Georgia, they could have just been passing through. Now for the land grants, they had to be residents for a certain period of time, but we have never been able to prove the land grants for William and Henry were our family .... as Isle of Wight also makes claim to those persons ... they had family in the same area. Bryant was not mentioned in the land grants, that is the only name we have that does not match with any from other Barlows. 1. DNA testing kits
    2. Susan BARLOW Holmes
    3. Go to the following address to order the DNA kit. http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=C37458&special=True We currently have 32 members in our project, though about 5 have not sent their kits back in. Don't click on the pricing at the top, those are for non-members, but instead, go to the bottom of the page and use the drop down box, and choose either 12, 25, or 37 marker kit. The 12 marker kit will tell you which if any line you fit into .. or if you are a complete new line of Barlow's ... and then you can later upgrade to the 25 or 37 marker, the prices will be a bit discounted, and if you match on 12 markers to another family, the upgrade will tell you if you are closely related to them, or if your family branches off into a sub-group. It won't tell you how you are related, but will help to know the direction your research should take. It is really quite interesting, but there is so much scientific language in it, I don't understand a lot of it myself. I can only compare the numbers. If you look at http://www.barlowgenealogy.com/Options/BARLOWDNAPROJECT.htm And go to the bottom of the page, you will see a chart made by one of our project members that shows how our Fairfield families relate...or at least where we began and how our families branch off. 1. Oswald Barlow, son of James Barlow and Ann Crompton.
    2. Susan BARLOW Holmes
    3. It was recently brought to my attention that Oswald Barlow was adopted by James Barlow, his real father's named 'Fogg', I believe. We have found a donor for the DNA test for the James Barlow family however, a descendant of one of the true sons of James Barlow and Ann Crompton, and are waiting patiently for the results to see if they match those of John of Fairfield, as is hoped. We still won't know if he is a match to Edmund of Malden or George of Sandwich, because we still do not have test results to compare him to. This Mormon Barlow family actually didn't arrive in the states until the mid 1800's.and I don't even know if they would relate to the Israel Barlow family, which I have been told is a part of the Edmund of Malden familes. Comments anyone???? Susan Looking for Barlows, anywhere....anytime, including all variants and spellings of the name, Barlo, Barloe, Barlowe, Parlar, Barler, Barlar, Barlage, etc...

    2. Francis M. Barlow married Nancy Bendure on January 23, 1886 in Marshall County, Indiana. I am looking for anyone who has information on this couple. I don't have much information on Francis, but if this is the right Nancy, she was born about 1866/1867 in Indiana to William Bendure and Rachael Hipshire Bendure. Nancy and her family were living in Tippecanoe, Marshall County, Indiana in 1870. I am interested in where they lived and if they had any children that survived. Thank you, Wanda

I am thinking that perhaps Job >Barlow was his father, or perhaps the Mary in the household with John >and Susannah was his mother. Both of these sure seem possible. In 1850, Job has a son named Marion about the same age as Samuel. No Marion in 1860, and it seems quite plausible that Samuel was helping out his aging grandparents while his parents were still alive. Job was born in Kentucky about 1812, so early Kentucky records seem like the place to look to me. John Barlow first shows up in Pulaski County in the census in 1820. Job is the only candidate for Samuel's father that I could find, unless John's daughter Mary had a child without benefit of clergy.... >Betty would like to find the parents of Sam. You did wonderful, thanks for putting the time into it. I am thinking that perhaps Job Barlow was his father, or perhaps the Mary in the household with John and Susannah was his mother. Betty would like to find the parents of Sam. I couldn't find them in 1850 either, which would help. Seeing the family comes from Virginia, perhaps that is where we need to look, however, his birth between 1843-1845, shows to be in Kentucky in all census. Susan

    3. It looks as if both of Martha's parents were married multiple times. Samuel Barlow married 3 times, all in Pulaski County, according to the IGI: m1) Martha Osburn, 27 Jun 1867, m2) Nancy Osborn, 4 Dec 1881, and m3) Ellen Woodall 24 Nov 1898. m1) ended with Martha's death, and m3) ended in divorce. Can't say on m2), but she was the mother of Mitchell, so was still alive in Apr 1884. All census data is from Pulaski County. The Barlow family seems to have been there a long time. 1860: District 1: John Barlow 84 farmer --- 50 VA, Susan 87 PA, Samuel 15 KY. John and Susan seem to be Samuel's grandparents. I don't find Samuel in 1850, but I do find John and Susan: 1850: Division 2: John Barlow 77 farmer 200 VA, Susannah 77 PA, Mary 38 KY 1870: Price district: Barton? Barlow? Bartow? (hard to read!) 3. As I recently told you, LDS will be putting all records online in the future, well...Lora Beth Barlow Wright just sent me the following, and it appears this might be done in our lifetime after all: The LDS Family History Library has announced that it has begun the process of digitizing and making available on the Internet all of the Family History books in their collection. About 5000 books have been digitized and are available, and they have announced that they are adding about 100 titles a week to the on-line collection. Go to the web site of the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU, http://www.lib.byu.edu/ From the list of collections that are displayed, choose: "Find Other Materials" "Electronic" "On Line Collections at BYU" Choose the TAB "Text Collections" And, finally, "Family History Archive" I keyed in Barlow and got about 10 or 11 hits. 1. DNA PROJECT UPDATE
    2. Susan BARLOW Holmes
    3. I am very excited. We have a 36-37 match between my John Barlow of Mississippi family and the George Barlow and Sarah Ubanks family. I'm still trying to figure out how this works, as we also have a 36-37 match with William Barlow and Edith Mathoda of Georgia, but then George and William have a 35-37 match. So I assume that means that while George and William are equally related to John, they are more distantly related to one another. I truthfully I don't know.if any one of you can explain this to me, please do. I will have to write to Mr. Bennett at Family Tree DNA and ask him about that . I have just completed a weeks work updating the families of George and Sarah, not having a clue that they would be closely related to our family ... for those of you interested.it is at: http://www.barlowgenealogy.com/Families/GeorgeBarlow-SarahUbanks.html They were from Virginia, Ohio and Missouri. We also got results back today to complete the 37 marker test, which at 25 was an exact match for Samuel Ainsworth of Lancashire, but at 37, they are 3 markers away. Interesting also. Also of great interest, is that we have finally got a donor for the George Barlow of Sandwich lineage. Will excitedly await those results.
