    2. Suzanne Hardebeck via
    3. Looking for more info including where this John Barker originated or died. Ann Sims born 1728. They christened a son John in 1758; another John 1761 and a third John in 1765. The children were christened in North Wingfield. They disappear after this. I am assuming that Ann and babies died. I don't know if this John is the widower who married Grace Smith Haslam in 1768 in Duffield. Sent from my iPhone

    3. Claudine and Suzanne In findmypast (records released yesterday) there is the baptism of Grace Haslam, 12 Aug1743, Alfreton St Martin daughter of Benjamin and Martha, and 12 March 1767 at Alfreton St Martin daughter of Thomas and Matilda. There is also a John Barker 19 October 1765 at Alfreton St Martin, son of George and Mary. There is an Elizabeth Draper baptised 25 February 1781 at Bretby, daughter of William and Elizabeth. A marriage which might be of interest - 4 November 1769 at Duffield, John Barker, widowed, to Grace Haslam, widowed. (Makes those Graces above unlikely...) Hope some of this is helpful Dorothy -----Original Message----- From: barker-uk-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:barker-uk-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Claudine Sinclair via Sent: Friday, April 17, 2015 4:49 AM To: BARKER-UK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BARKER-UK] Barkers of Derby I am looking at some archived messages re Barkers of Derbyshire. 3. Hi Michelle, Barker is not an uncommon name in England (and Scotland). It would help if you knew what part of England they came from. Mine were originally from Derbyshire, then moved to Yorkshire, then to Dumfries in Scotland, then to Australia and New Zealand. I didn't know much of this when I started searching for them, just that they had lived in Dumfries in the 19th century, but knowing as little as that I was able to trace back to the 1600s when they were in Derbyshire. Perhaps Paul Barker and Annie Roderick's marriage certificate might have more information to go on? Or their immigration records to the US, or passenger records from England? Good luck with your hunting. Barker and son, of Punxatawney, Pa.  They will remain here for another week.     This led me to John Barker and family living in Young, Jefferson, Pennsylvania who also had a son Clifford (like Paul)   Looked for John and Paul in England in 1871 .....sons of Robert (1827) and Hannah (1833) Barker living in Eston, Yorkshire in 1871   I also found a wedding article for Clifford son of Paul, if you would like a copy let me know.   Best Wishes, Denise V
