Gary - That is a great story. What did he do to land in jail? Can you imagine at 15 what that was like. Did you even wonder if we all had the same James Barker and he just moved around a lot and married lots of women. He married my gr grandmother when she was 18 and he was 38 (since he never gave his age the same twice, I am not sure but I do think now that he was born in 1821 in Vermont) so what was he doing before that? I have often wondered if there were other families out there that he left behind. My gr grandmother divorced him. He went off to the Civil War and left her with 4 little kids.
