Did you ever get a reply on your query about Lizzie Barker etc. I had saved it and was reading it today. Since my Barker family disappeared for years here and there I never rule anything out. They were in Vermont, New York, Michigan, Iowa and Nebraska. Still can't find what happened to my James Barker's parents James and Mary Barker or his brother William b. 1826 and John G. Barker b. 1824. Probably will be a mystery all of my life. :) Coral Barker Allbee
I read your Barker message with interest! My James Barker's family was also in New York, Michigan, Illinois and Nebraska. The 1880 Clay County, Nebraska census shows at least 3 of his children born in Illinois and one born in 1877 in Nebraska. I have never been able to find them since that census. The census shows his age as 42 and his wife Mary is also 42. Their children are Alexander, Charles, Minnie, Anna, and Nathan. Old family records say they might also have had two other sons--Albert and Edward. Mary Barker had three children by a previous marriage to Samuel Porterfield. Those children were James, Ida Jane and Emma Porterfield. ----- Original Message ----- From: <CORALAA@aol.com> To: <BARKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 05, 2003 4:45 PM Subject: Re: [BARKER] J.
