I've been looking for my Barkers for 30 years. Closest I've gotten is my gggrandpa, George Barker, who md. Denisa Sharp Dec.26, 1833 in Rockingham Co, NC. Their son John Allen Barker, b.1844 in Rockingham Co,NC is my ggrandfather. He also had an older bro, Henry T.Barker, b.1835. By 1850, George Barker is no longer listed on the Rockingham Co,NC census, but Denisa Barker is listed with sons Henry T, age 15 & John A, age 6. Although I find many George Barkers in Rockingham, none seem to fit mine. My ggrandpa John Allen Barker served with the 45th NC Confederate Infantry & was captured April 6, 1865 near Burkesville,VA. He was released from Pt.Lookout,MD Federal Prison on June 26, 1865. He md. Nancy Jane McKillip in 1867. She was the dau. of James T.McKillip & Malinda Perry of Rockingham Co. John & Nancy Barker's eldest child was name George, who was b.1867 in NC. Around 1870, they moved to the Knightstown,IN area along with many of the McKillips, including in-laws James T.& Malinda McKillip. It was in Knigh tstown,In that my grandpa Chas.Oliver Barker was b. in Sept.1873. In about 1883, John Allen Barker & family moved to Laurel Co,KY, where my mom (Esther Marie Barker) was b. in 1922. Any leads would be appreciated. I have much on the McKillips & Perrys, but little on the Barkers before my ggranpa. My grandpa used to see he was "Black Dutch & Red Irish". Gerald Eaton
