Hi Terry, Thank you for your generous offer to do a lookup in your Barker Book. Would you please see if any of the BARKERS came from IRE to NYC or BROOKLYN about 1830. Specifically I am looking for WILLIAM H BARKER b ENG about 1810 who married ELIZABETH STEWART b IRE abt 1810. Son JOSHUA Paul Gustavas BARKER was b 15 Aug 1830 in NYC, William was from a seafaring family and was in the USA with several unknown brothers after jumping from a ship to which he was indentured ( perhaps at a very young age ). So far I have been unable to locate the brothers. William also worked at the old Brooklyn Navy Yard. Family legend tells us about an English relative GENERAL BARKER who was a General and who served in one of the BOER WARS. Appreciate your help.
