Well I guess its time to post this message outright since I am of Cherokee descendancy. Don't say anything about an Indian Princess to any Full blood Cherokees or they will laugh at you and walk away. There is no Princess in the Cherokee Nation. Never was and never was in any other tribal affiliations Perhaps this was the intruder's sarcastic method of saying she was the daughter of a Chief which is also a misnomer since there really wasn't such a title before the intruders arrived. The Cherokee political system was purely matriarchal. There was a male governor of each township in the Cherokee Nation and several officials under him. But the women had the last say on everything. Men felt that the women had superiority because they gave birth to them. That system disappeared once the intruders took hold somewhere along in the late 1500's early 1600's. Saying that your ancestor was a Cherokee Princess is demeaning to most Cherokee. Just want you to be aware of this.
