I hereby declare this James Barker Day. And I might do it again! I spent almost the entire day looking for James S. Barker (I now think that is his middle initial). They were in Goshen Gore, Caledonia, VT. 1820 and 1830. I know they had a daughter born in NY about 1838 so I started looking in NY. In 1840 I found James S. Barker with two children under 5 and am pretty sure that is him. The other dates fit. The older children seem to be gone. Then I found in the same county -Cayuga - that there was James Barker in Springport and a James Barker at the Auburn prison. Image online was not available for either one so I started one at a time. No image # was available either. I found James Barker in prison for robber but he was too young, 22, and mine would be in his 30's. I have not found the James in Springport yet but will continue that search one page at a time later. I was so thrilled to think I had a relative in prison. Really disappointed!!! Anyway I did not want to waste my days work so wanted to share it. Maybe it is some other Barker's relative. Lucky them! Coral Barker Allbee
