The Francis Marion of Tn. was the son of Russell and grandson of Charles , participant in the 1780 Battle of Kings Mountain from Washington county, Va, This Charles was the son of John Barker and Martha Snead of Henry/Pittsylvania/Hanover Va, Francis Marion served in Rhett's Artillery in the CSA and had left the 21sr prior to their capture at Cumberland Gap. I assume the name of Francis Marion came from the Rev. WAr hero and that this coincidence of two with the same name is explained this way.
