At least you got a middle initial. I think mine is James M Barker but his pension records say "S" so it makes it difficult. My Barker's spent some time in NY. Gardner Barker son of John G Barker was born in NY in 1845. Maybe he had a son named James. There are so many. I have only been able to find one James W.Barker that was born in 1867 and it was on the Ellis Island Web sight. He was 21 years old and was on a ship from England to NY in 1888. Any chance this John G. Barker had a mistress named Lucetta Lusk? She bore him three sons... two made it to adulthood. She gave them the BARKER name. She was on the 1850 census for New York as Lucetta Lusk and her sons are surnamed BARKER. I understand John G. Barker died in 1851 per one of the son's Civil War pension records but not other information about who John G. Barker was. Have information on several John G. Barkers but none that indicate an association with Lucetta Lusk. She was listed as being from Ireland on the census information.
