    1. Re: [BARKER] Barker DNA
    2. Do you get a lot of the "Come on down!" stuff? The reason I ask is that my husband is also Bob Barker and delivery people always say it. I have traced my Bob's Barker line with proof back to the 1830 Decatur Co IN census. That was Joseph P. Sr. and he bought land there in 1822. Wife was Nancy? He died in 1835 and his son later married Elizabeth Wright. They moved from Decatur Co to Tipton Co between 1860 and 1870. Joseph Jr. was on the way to Missouri before 1880, and the family story was that he died somewhere in Illinois. His wife died in 1915. The youngest son was my husband's grandfather. The names in that generation were Melissa, Jesse Jacob, Ellen Elizabeth, William, and Richard. Their father Joseph had a brother named Jesse, and I'm almost sure his father had a brother named Jesse. In Decatur Co, in the 1850's and 60's there were also Barkers named David and Benjamin . I know where all the succeeding generations were and are- but who came before Joseph Sr is one of my "brickwalls." I was interested in your posting because you mentioned Lexington- where I grew up. Many many people there had/have VA lines. (The only Barker I ever met there was my age [now 74] a girl named LeGrande, and that was before I met my husband.) A lot of Indiana lines also go back to KY and/or VA. You are right- there are many Barkers- and none of those posted seem to connect.
