A bunch of Barkers settled in Randolph Co. NC in the 1700's - may have traveled to SC with Duncans to Pendleton Co. SC - or to TN with Light families. Might look in NC for parents. Good suggestion on the DNA tests. I have already ordered this kit, and figure at this juncture, this is the only way to find my elusive Barkers. My brick wall is Henry Barker, b. about 1782-1787 in Virginia. Located in Fayette county, Kentucky in 1807 when he married Catherine "Caty" Bach/Bache/Back. They had three sons, John (b.1809), William (b. 1813) and Joseph (b. 1816). Henry and his sons moved to the Perryville area around 1819, when he purchased land on the Chaplin River from Josiah and Nancy Barker Utley. After Henry's death in 1823, his widow married John Potts, and had one additional child, Henry Barker Potts about 1826. Henry and all of his sons were carpenters. As per usual, none of them divulged their middle names, but did 'repeat' the same first names (over & over) through their descendants. Any help in finding Henry's home will be appreciated. Pat Barker
