My Barker line is from Robert BarkerIII - Caleb - John - Caleb - Benjamin - Carr - - Benjamin - Eugene - Jean Lucille - and then me, Debby. Does this mean I get to belong to the Mayflower Society? Or my mother? I got all my information from someone else who looked it up, beyond my grandfather's father, Benjamin Howland Barker. My mother would love it if she could belong to that. She is nearly 92 and it would make a good present for her. Debby J.
Has anyone on this forum ever submitted an application for membership to the Mayflower Society based on lineage through Robert Barker, husband of Alice Snow, daughter of Abigail Warren, daughter of Richard Warren, Mayflower passenger? I am interested in pursuing this as a gift for my sister, and I understand that if I include a copy of an already approved application, I don't need to provide copies of sources shared with those already accepted. Needless to say, this would make the process MUCH easier if a relative (the closer the better) had already been accepted as a member. My descent from Robert is as follows: Caleb, John, Caleb, Benjamin, Jacob, George, Miles, Lynn, Milton. Even if you can't help me out with the above, if you've ever been through the application process I would be interested in hearing about your experience and any advice you have to offer. Thanks! Mimi Barker

My great grandfather was named Benjamin Howland Barker, born Feb. 23, 1848 in Weyauwega, Waupaca Co., Wisc. I would like to find other descendants of this line or his father, Carr, to share or compare notes. I was given much information about this line of ancestors by a fellow Rootsweb Lister....and I have appreciated that so much. My brick wall right now is Benjamin's wife Miranda Thierman--her ancestors so would like to be able to trace them also. Thanks for any attention! Debby Jorgensen

If you go to the Claiborne county gen web page, I think you will find a listing of all burials in the county. Les Willliamson whom you noted is a g g grandson of the Francis Marion Barker of the Rhett/Burroughs battery of artillery. I would suggest you look under Franscisco for the name of the cemetery. ALL who are listed there are descendents of Francis Marion, son of Russell, son of Charles who fought in the REvolution from Washiington county. Russell also lived in nearby Lee county where he was neighbors to Charles C. (possibly Chiles) who was his brother and also a son of Charles and Frances Chiles Barker. Many of the families in Lee county or Wise county were from this Charles C. line as well as the Squire Omar who was a famous western writer and his brother, A ranger, who came up with the naming of Smoky. Many of the Charles C. line went to Texas and then to Arizona while the Russell wing stayed in Claiborne and other parts of East Tennessee. What specifically are you looking for other than the names? Hi, According to the 1870 & 1880 Eaton Co. Michigan census William Barker was born in England about 1814, his parents were foreign, his wife Elizabeth was born in New York. They had two sons John who married Asrilla, & Nathaniel (my ggr father) who married Caroline Mae Holmes. Nathaniel & Caroline are buried in Forest Hills Cemetery, Evart, Michigan Mecosta Co. Both John b. app 1845 & Nathaniel b. 1851 were born in New York, then moved to Michigan. Where in N.Y. I do not know. Add my William to the long list of William Barkers. Any relatives out there? Wanda from Dearborn
The Francis Marion of Tn. was the son of Russell and grandson of Charles , participant in the 1780 Battle of Kings Mountain from Washington county, Va, This Charles was the son of John Barker and Martha Snead of Henry/Pittsylvania/Hanover Va, Francis Marion served in Rhett's Artillery in the CSA and had left the 21sr prior to their capture at Cumberland Gap. I assume the name of Francis Marion came from the Rev. WAr hero and that this coincidence of two with the same name is explained this way.
